Dear All, Let us start discussing the effects of Jupiter in Lagna. The lawyers/thread-owners for this thread are Pt. Arjun ji and Srinivas ji. They have the full right to argue in favor of Jupiter and its power to produce identifiable results when placed in Lagna. Hi Jupiter-centrics,This is for the starters....

One interesting thing to be noted is

that no planet considers Jupiter as its enemy. (no lagan lord would mind having

Jupiter in his house) It is however, friendly to Sun, Moon and Mars. It is

inimical to Mercury and Venus and with Saturn it is Neutral. It is friendly to

Rahu and neutral to Ketu.

In

astrology there is no other natural benefic than Jupiter. The mere placement of

Jupiter in Lagna or Kendra is said to mitigate many afflictions in the

horoscope. Jupiter in lagan practically takes care of all important aspects of

life such as education/children/wife/father/bhagya. Natives with Jup in lagan

will be lucky. Jupiter gets strength in lagan.

Dear Shreenadh

If i may make a contribution regarding this matter - I have found

that jupiter in the lagna and strong mercury placement - or jupiter

aspecting lagna lord or lagna gives strong musical interests. This

can be found in many musician charts also - including lata

mangeshkar and micheal jackson.But what is the signficance of a

planet like jupiter with music? I would love your thoughts

Dear All,

Its been long time since I visited the group, but its really great to

get hundreds of messages in my Inbox. I went thru most of them and

currently started to seriously go thru the files section of this

group, which is really very useful. Regarding Jupiter in Lagna I

searched thru some of my database and found some interesting cases.

Here, I shall give the details of their birth and their

characteristics rather than important events in their life, because

as we all know jupiter in lagna ALONE has little to do with the

events in their lives. For the events in their lives we have to

consider all other effects, which is out of the scope of the present

discussion. The persons have clarified with me about their characters.

1. IAS Officer (came with problems in health and political problems

in job):

June-23-1956, 11.05 am, Gudibanda, India, 77.41.E, 13.40.N.

Character: I predicted he is very upright officer and very dynamic

because Jupiter in Leo Lagna makes one not just honest (which is why

he was transferred every 2 years by political persons and even got

death threats), but also very dynamic and knows how to control

people. He was very sweet in speech and very decent but at the same

time he seemed dominating (because Mars in 7th house). He said he is

feared in his circle because he is very honest and he is also not

scared of goondas and death threats. He was a primary school teacher

in a village before he became an IAS Officer. He seems to be

sincerely dedicated to work and as he was workoholic he had health

problems. He was a very good poet and has published a poetry book

(this was my mother's prediction and he was astonished, even I was

astonished). Also the way he speaks is really astonishing, very clear

and dignified in speech and when he talks you feel he is really

intelligent and a very dignified person.

2. April-16-1986, 03.42, Hubli, India, student.

(parents came with problem of whether he will join a professional

course or not, which my mother predicted he will, seeing not only

jupiter in lagna but also his good sidhamsha). But character wise, he

seems to be very soft and lively person, and since there isnt any

direct influence on Jupiter, we can safely say he is very righteous,

and disciplined and respects elders. The parents said indeed he was a

very soft-spoken and honest kid and very much respects all

traditions. Since he was also running Jupiter dasha, he didnt have

any sort of problems in his education. Also he plays tabla at various

competitions.

3. April-16-1953, 09.10, Bangalore, MLC (Member of Legislative

Council),

He came to ask whether he will win election (MP), but my mother said

he will not but he will still be in politics, and he went to politics

thru backdoor (became MLC). He is widely known by public to be

corrupt and goonda. But my mother said completely opposite, that he

is very soft, honest, righteous, does charity works, and sincere to

his wife. He was shell-shocked and almost went into tears. He said he

was pained at people calling him names, as he was very sincere. He

said he had earned money thru hard work in real estate business and

then was stepping into politics now, but people thought he made all

that money in politics since he was also uneducated. He is not

involved in even one scandal. He respects everyone and also does

charity work. But, he is not educated well. But since Moon is in

lagna with Jupiter, he is sweet and soft in speech and has good mind.

But he is also very brave and courageous, because Mars in own house

and Sun exalted. He is known to have dealt with his enemies in real-

estate business with an iron hand. But its interesting to see that he

is not well educated.

My Personal Conclusions about Jupiter in Lagna:

a. Jupiter in Lagna definitely makes one have sweet and dignified

speech. He talks very sensibly and like a learned person.

b. Respects traditions and elders.

c. Very knowledgeable (not sure about education though).

d. Gives some kind of artistic nature (music, speech, poetry, etc),

though not like venus.

dear pundit ji ,

yes ,it says guru lagna can counter 1 crore doshas -laksham dosham guru hanti .

what if its in actual experiences .for exmaple i wanted to know more abt taurus lagna with guru as guru is 8th Lord and his mool trikon sign also 8th house .

any memebrs has any charts ?? I think latha mangeshwar ji is taurus lagna .

Dear Sunil ji,The 3rd example that I gave, has taurus lagna. Jup is not alone in lagna but with a dire malefic rahu ( in north its knows as guru chandal yoga ) .So rsults attributed to single jup in lagna how is it possible .

also sani and mars forming agni maruta yoga ( so the houses involved can suffer ) also this yoga has no benefic aspects . ( u hav to giv us feed back ) .

Dear Chandramouliswer ji and Neelam Gupta ji, I am attracting your attention to this chart provided by Maligere ji. A typical case similar to the one mentioned in my previous mail to Chandramouliswar ji with Libra Lagna, Punarvasu Nakshatra and Jupiter dasa running at the time of birth! To quote my previous statement -==>Note that, if Libra is Lagna, Jupiter Dasa running at birth time (e.g. People born in Punarvasu, Visakha, Purva Bhadrapada), and if there is a malefic in 11 or 12th from Aries (i.e. considering Natural horoscope) then most possibly the native would be handicapped - a result enhanced by lordship of Jupiter for 3rd and 6th houses!! And you say that Jupiter will not give any bad results for Libra lagna!!! <== Any way, note that out of the above parameters quoted - "Malefic in 11th or 12th from Aries" is missing in this case - that much good for him. But still not much good since the 2nd house from Natural Horoscope (Taurus) and 2nd house from Natal chart (Scorpio) - both afflicted; and everything related to 2nd house suffering (getting handicapped- can be interpreted as 'only slightly materializing'). And for him Jupiter is in Lagna afflicted by Rahu! By now he would be 29 yrs of age - and was in misery - 29 yrs gone. * Now comes the dasa of Mercury in 11th with navamsa in 8th from Lagna; the dasa of the owner of the 9th and 12th lord. Since the Moolatrikona sign of Mercury is Virgo - the effect of 12th house will take effect for the first half (8.5 years) and lost again is 8 years and by now he is 37.5 years. Anyway from 37.5 to 46 years it would be moderatly good time. But what use of it all, and what can be expected at this late age?! * There on for 7 years it is the dasa of Ketu in 7th and 7th lord Mars fallen in 8th. Again gone are 7 years. Age 53 yrs. Dear Sreenadh ji,I get swati makshatra for the ascendant if I use lahiri ayanamsha in parashar lite 7.0.Pls clarify where is the difference. Even for the case that I have posted in my previous male, I've got swati nakshatra.

Dear Sunilji / Shreenadhji, Its very interesting (or obvious) how malefic planets affect jupiter. We can also view the chart as benefic jupiter reducing the malefic effect of rahu and we get mixed results Anyway the more complications with jupiter, the more discussions we can have. Maybe malefic-uninfluenced and powerful jupiter is the one which truly makes the native famous, righteous, king-like, etc. I would rather say from experience that, if for example the native has some bad placements of other planets but has a good placement and strength of jupiter, he suffers sometimes but finally he emerges victorious. This should be the approach a practical astrologer should take while predicting results, rather than jumping guns to proclaim that a good jupiter (or in lagna) will make the native king-like. My mother has jupiter in 9th house in pisces and

rahu in 8th, she had brain-haemorrhage in jup dasha-rahu bhukthi (also jupiter was in ghataka sthana in 10th house from moon in transit), but she recovered fantastically and is perfectly fine (taking some regular tablets) now. So, dangers are there due to some planets but if some other planets, especially jupiter is good in one's chart, then the final victory is to the native. Regarding winding up the jupiter in lagna thread, it seems a big job if we start considering the effects of jupiter in each lagna and also influence of each planet on jupiter in lagna. Then we get innumerable combinations to deal with , example: 1. Jupiter in Aries lagna, uninfluenced2. Jupiter in Aries lagna, influenced by saturn, 3. Jupiter in Aries lagna influenced by sun, etc. Also we should keep in mind the strength and placement of lagna lord. With so many combinations, I can say it will take more than 1 year to discuss all these cases Anyway, as a practical approach, its more than enough if we wind up with jupiter's effects in various lagnas; and just mention as an important footnote to be careful to look out for influences of other planets and placement of lagna lord Finally, if Shreenadhji / Suniji / Neelamji / or any other member throw some light (along with any verses) on jupiter's effects in various lagnas on one's artistic skills and when influenced by other planets, I would be grateful. From experience I find it difficult to estimate the artistic value of jupiter , maybe because my lagna has venus, who is enemy of Jupiter Regards, Vijay. Dear Shreenadhji, Really wonderful analysis of the chart. You have shown the practical astrologer that simply looking at chart is not at all enough, but dasha is equally important. This is where many astrologers go wrong. Some of us predict fantastic future based solely on chart, but the client turns up at age 53 to kill the astrologer who predicted he would be a king. Dear Sunilji / Shreenadhji,

Its very interesting (or obvious) how malefic planets affect jupiter. We can also view the chart as benefic jupiter reducing the malefic effect of rahu and we get mixed results Anyway the more complications with jupiter, the more discussions we can have. Maybe malefic-uninfluenced and powerful jupiter is the one which truly makes the native famous, righteous, king-like, etc. I would rather say from experience that, if for example the native has some bad placements of other planets but has a good placement and strength of jupiter, he suffers sometimes but finally he emerges victorious. This should be the approach a practical astrologer should take while predicting results, rather than jumping guns to proclaim that a good jupiter (or in lagna) will make the native king-like. My mother has jupiter in 9th house in pisces and rahu in 8th, she had brain-haemorrhage in jup dasha-rahu bhukthi (also jupiter was in ghataka sthana in 10th house from moon in transit), but she recovered fantastically and is perfectly fine (taking some regular tablets) now. So, dangers are there due to some planets but if some other planets, especially jupiter is good in one's chart, then the final victory is to the native.

Regarding winding up the jupiter in lagna thread, it seems a big job if we start considering the effects of jupiter in each lagna and also influence of each planet on jupiter in lagna. Then we get innumerable combinations to deal with , example:

1. Jupiter in Aries lagna, uninfluenced2. Jupiter in Aries lagna, influenced by saturn,

3. Jupiter in Aries lagna influenced by sun,

etc. Also we should keep in mind the strength and placement of lagna lord.

With so many combinations, I can say it will take more than 1 year to discuss all these cases Anyway, as a practical approach, its more than enough if we wind up with jupiter's effects in various lagnas; and just mention as an important footnote to be careful to look out for influences of other planets and placement of lagna lord

Finally, if Shreenadhji / Suniji / Neelamji / or any other member throw some light (along with any verses) on jupiter's effects in various lagnas on one's artistic skills and when influenced by other planets, I would be grateful. From experience I find it difficult to estimate the artistic value of jupiter , maybe because my lagna has venus, who is enemy of Jupiter

Dear Sreenadh ji,lahiri ayanamsha gives swati nakshatra for the ascendant. If I offset it by 46 min. I do get vishakha. Though I don't have the option of using 360 day-year.Since you're so comfortable with CHari Ayanamsha, I wanted to experiment with it also. Is it possible with parashar lite. It gives an option to offset the ayanamsha but not the days. How to account for the difference of savana years 360 days. Can you tell me what are the ascendant degrees in this particular chart?

By now he would be 29 yrs of age - and was in misery - 29 yrs gone.

* Now comes the dasa of Mercury in 11th with navamsa in 8th from Lagna; the dasa of the owner of the 9th and 12th lord. Since the Moolatrikona sign of Mercury is Virgo - the effect of 12th house will take effect for the first half (8.5 years) and lost again is 8 years and by now he is 37.5 years. Anyway from 37.5 to 46 years it would be moderatly good time. But what use of it all, and what can be expected at this late age?!

Dear Vijay ji, I will clarify it further - - Jupiter owns 6th house (disease) from Cancer Lagna - Mars owns the head of the Kalapurusha, i.e. Aries - Mars is debilitated in Lagna (cancer) which indicates head of the native Where ever Mars be possibly this is a combination that may give disease or trouble. If there is malefic in Cancer (especially Ketu) it could even give a minor heart attack in that period. Therefore considering the pointer Jupiter provides towards disease and the repeated pointers Mars provides towards head - it is clear that the said period should be Ju/Ma. And that is why the guess, you must be getting it wrong, due to the use of wrong Ayanamsa and year length. Dear Neelam ji, What ever the Ayanamsa be, what ever the software be - how can Punarvasu nakshatra (Moon's position) which falls in Gemini can change to Swati Nakshatra or Visakha Nakshatra (Moon's position) in Libra?! :=) It seems that, you are 'assuming' that we are speaking about Lagna Nakshtra, inwhich case the assumption is wrong. We are talking about the Nakshatra of Moon itself (which is Punarvasu) and not about the Nakshtra in which Lagna sputa is (which happens to be Swati). The Lagna longitude in this case is - 18 deg 30 min in Libra for me (using CHari Ayanamsa); and the Moon's longitude is - 24 deg 37 min in Gemini. :=). Dear Maligere ji, What I have realized is the statements or dictums from either Sararavali or other works can not be taken in toto. What I mean is, these statements come with some strings attached which are not explicit. For example, the one you have quoted from Saravali, the implict meaning could be "... provided Jupiter is free from malefic influences and well placed...". The given chart is also very interesting to me becuase the native is only two days younger to me and born in a place close to my birth place as well. In this particular chart, Jupiter turns malefic on the following counts: - Jupiter is the lord of the 6th house - Lagna lord is Jupiter's enemy - Rahu sits in the nakshatra of Jupiter - Jupiter's dispositor also owns 8th house and sits in a eneny house - Things may not be too

bad as Jupiter is in his own navamsha. Therefore, the dictum can not be applied on the face value in this case. Like all other planets, Jupiter would also fail to usher good if not placed well. Hence, in my opinion, we should use the dictums with lot of care and understanding as they don't appear to be 'blanket statements'. Applying them blindly will create havoc in our predictions.
