Guest guest
Dear Mr. Finn and my angry Friend Mr.Sreenadh, I honestly do not mind what Mr. Sreenadh has expressed in his mail. The present generation is forgetting how to behave with friends and elders. They always show anger and posses know-all attitude. Such persons expect that others should not only accept their views but also respect their reviews with utmost humility. However neither they want to understand or have any patience to give a thought over the views of others. I may like to give my brief back ground. I'm an engineering graduate of 1960 batch from IIT -ROORKEE.I am in deep study of Indian scripture since 1952-most of you may have not born at that time. I have studied Astrology since 1973, and was in close association with P.S.IYER, K.N.RAO, Dr. Sukdev Chaturved, Pt. Sanjay Rath and many other scholars. But what can be done when we are living in an era where there is no mutual respect? Now I may like to draw some basic aspect of Ancient scriptures: 1. Puranic parampara is older than the eras of Mahabharat. They were written in difficult language and it was not possible for common people to understand them.Maharishi Vayasa is the inventor of new style for writing Purana's .He had written the main and core text in Anushtup Chhanda of 20 letters. These were easy to understand by common people of all backgrounds. These were full of narrations and attractive real and imaginary stories with similes and metaphors. Some times, the intent of such stories was also explained in detail in different context and situations. There after, his disciples narrated the core text in the form of dialogues.Naturaly, over a period, these texts were definitely got modified. It is popular belief that present format of Mahabharata was adopted in 44 B.C. .. 2 This is the reason that most of the Purana's, Mahabharta, BPHS etc are available in the form, of dialogue mode. Never mind what experts say, it is a rule that dialogues are always based on main TEXT. 3. VAYASA PREPARED MAIN TEXT OF Mahabharata AND BHAGAVAT MAHA PURANA. SIMLARLY, after Mahabharata war and up to the period of Lord Buddha, the schools started by the disciples of Vayasa had written the core or basic text of many Purina's and other scriptures. Subsequently, they were narrated to masses in dialogue format. When we assume that Purina's were written during the period, say, 200A.D. To 700A.D., THIS ONLY MEANS THAT THEY WERE RENARRATED AND REAUDITED. If we assume that these were created in that era, I personally of the view that no one should take such an impression. No doubt, some Purina's and other scriptures were originated on later dates. Try to find out who had contributed main Text and when. It is, but natural, that during the process of narration over the several centuries, main texts were distorted on extensive basis. I am teaching Astrology since 1991 and also giving lectures in SHRI LAL BAHADUR SANSKRIT VIDYAPEETH IN DELHI. ALL SCHOLORS IN VIDYAPEETH IS OF THE OPINION THAT BPHS -IN WHATEVER FORM -NOW AVAILABLE- IS ONE OF THE UNIQUE AND AUTHORATATIVE TRETISE ON ASTROLOGY. Kindly forget every thing, and try to benefit from the literature now available. Regards to all
