Like the horoscope of one spouse is influenced by that of the other

spouse so also the horoscope of the prospective president will be

effected by that of the prospective vice-president.

The following is supposed to be a shloka from Jataka Parijata and thiscombination exists in the chart of Senator Barack Obama, Democraticcandidate for President. Based on what I think this combinationmeans, I'd hazard that Sen. Obama will be the winner.I know that the shloka states that debilitated Jupiter in theascendant and a malefic in the eighth house makes the individual aking. However, what does "Rasyamsa Samanvithe" mean?I know it refers to the navamsa of the malefic in the eighth house, but what exactly does it mean? Any Sanskrit scholars here? Also, even though the shloka is supposed to be in Jataka Parijata, Iwas not able to find it in the text, but I may not have looked carefully.Lagne Neechabhagriye Purandara Gurau,Randhreshe Papagrahe,Thath Rasyamsa Samanvithe Yadi ThathaRajadhirajo Bhaveth--Radha S.

Dear Radhaji,

The copy which I have gives the verse as under:

Chapter 7 verse 25

Lagne neechagrahe purandaregurau randhre sapapagrahe

tadrashyanshasamanvite yadi tada rajadhirajo bhavet

I think it means if a planet is debilitated in the lagna, and be

aspected by jupiter; a malefic be in the eighth sign and occupy the

navamsa of that sign, then the native will be the king of kings.

I am not sure how far I am right, but this does not look like an easy

combination.

Dear Friend,

The sloka number is probably 15 and not 25,

In my opinion Jupiter aspect is not mentioned in this sloka.

Then this sloka may be interpreted as under:

"  A debilitated planet with Jupiter in Lagna , and a natural malefic in

8H in the Navamsa of 8H sign will generate Raj yoga "

This yoga is not applicable to the nativity of Mr. Obama fully.

Irrespective of fact weather he will win or loose in election ,

he is already enjoying the Rajyoga par excellent. The reasons are :

Atmakarka Mars and Amatyakarka Rahu are in 8H with HL and

are aspecting by sign aspect to AL, Lagna , SL and GL all placed in

angular houses. This is a very powerful Rajyoga.

Further , 12HL in debility and Lords of 6,8 and 12 houses are in

mutual aspect.

All these yogas are producing a powerful person ,whom one can hope

to become President.

This analysis is based on Capricorn Lagna based on the Time of birth

supposed to be given in his hospital birth certificate.

Winning a election depends on opponent nativity also.

There appears to be discrepancies in the birth time of Obama. My

information shows that he has Tula as the lagna. Therefore, Jupiter

is neechabhanga rajayoga in the 4th house. And, he has Sun and

Mercury in the 10th house, thus accounting for his success in

politics and the government.

Dear Radha ji,Obama's most accepted lagna is Tula. In any case, no one has taken makar as lagna for him. So the shloka, whatever it means, cannot be applied to Obama's chart.Regards

Goel ji,

You are correct. It is Ch. 7, verse 15 in the translation by V.

Adarniya Goel ji.

Please do not take it as interference.

The sloka quoted is :

" Lagne neechagrahe purandaregurau randhre sapapagrahe

> tadrashyanshasamanv ite yadi tada rajadhirajo bhavet

The correct sloka is :

" Lagne neechagrihe (GRIHE NOT GRAHE) purandaregurau randhre

sapaapagrahe (here it is GRAHE)

> tadramsa-cha-shamanvite yadi tada rajadhirajo bhavet "

It simply means " If Jupiter is in debility in Lagna (meaning

Capricorn as Lagna) and another Papa Graha occupies eight house at

the same Navamas (means Leo Navamsa), the person will become

Rajadhraj (king like).

I hope That is the striaghtforward meaning.

Ragards.

Dear members,

The shloka is 15th and 2nd volum and translation given by Pt. V.Subrahmanya

Shastri states " If Jupiter  be depressed in the  lagna and 8th house occupied by

a malefic planet, and the navamsha of 8th bhava (64th from lagna) be that of a

rashi own by the malefic planet in question, under this yoga also will be born a

king of kings. "

John: My 2 cents. Birth certificate shows 7:11pm. It was scanned and

posted on a website. Please google it to actually find it. Now nobody

is disputing this scanned version. Earlier people were were using

libra lagna etc.

Murthy ji,

Is this the correct data?

If it is, then Jupiter gives Neechabhanga raja yoga through Mars, and

yoga should be experienced in the dasas of Jupiter and Mars.

Neelam ji,

The time on the birth certificate is supposed to be 17:24. You may be

able to google the facsimile of the birth certificate.

Bhagwatiji,

Thank you. May I ask what translation you have? Isn't it amazing

that a book from the 13th century is still valid?

There is another reference in the same book, Ch.7, verse 13 (in my

translation by V. Subramanya Sastri) that is also applicable to Sen.

Obama's chart. See my response to Shobhana ji.

Dear Radhaji,

I have a PDF in sanskrit of Jataka Parijata. I did the translation on

my own.

Neelam ji,

My knowledge of Sanskrit is rudimentary, which is why I posted the

sloka to the group.

I am following the translation of V. Subramanya Sastri. His

translation for Jatak Parijata Ch.7, verse 15 is:

If Jupiter be depressed in Lagna and the eighth house occupied by a

malefic planet, and if the Navamsa of the 8th bhava (64th from the

Lagna) be that of a Rashi owned by the malefic planet in question,

under this yoga also will be born a king of kings.

If you move Sen. Obama's birth time by a few minutes to 19:32, the

rising sign in navamsa will be Kanya, and the ruler of the 8th house

will be Mars; Mars is in the eighth house in the rasi chart. This

fits V. Subramanya Sastri's translation in toto.

Dear Neelam ji, The correct version of the sloka is as follows -

"Lagne Neechagrihe Purandara Guro, Randhre Sa-paapagrahe, Tadrashyamsha -Samanvitte Yadi Tada Rajadhirajo Bhavet"Lagne Neechagrihe Purandara Guru = In Lagna Jupiter (Purandara Guru = Guru of Indra = Deva guru = Jupiter) in Debilitation (i.e. Jupiter in Capricorn Lagna) Randhre Sa-paapagrahe = Malefic in 8th (Sa, Ma or Su in Leo)Tadraashyamsha Samanvitte = (If the above said malefic are in) In that Navamsa (i.e. in the corresponding Navamsa) If made strict this means that, the above mentioned malefic in 8th should be in the 2nd Navamsa of Leo, since 5th degree in Capricorn is the degree of debilitation for Jupiter. Jupiter debilitates in 2nd Navamsa of Capricorn, so the above said malefic should be present in the 2nd Navamsa of Leo. Yadi tada = If so then Rajadhirajo bhavet = Then the native will become King of Kings. Thus the sloka means - While Lagna and Jupiter are in Capricorn, if any malefic (Sa, Ma, Su) is present in the corresponding Navamsa (2nd Navamsa) of Leo, then the native will become King of Kings. There is no kind of ambiguity or complexity associated with this sloka - It is straight and simple. Note: My reference for the above sloka is the Malayalam version of Jataka Parijata, edited by the well known traditional astrology and Sanskrit scholar Puliyoor Purushottam Nambootiri. Dear Frieds,

Jatak Parijat-Ch-7 ,Last two lines of sloka 15:

Pt. Kapilesara Chaudhari in his Sanskrit translation of this

sloka mentioned as under(Published by Chaukhambha Sanskrit Sansthan):

'Debilitated Jupiter if placed in Lagna and malefic placed in 8H obtains the same Navamsa as Jupiter

in Lagna-if Jupiter is in 3rd navamsa ,the planet in 8H should also obtain 3rd navamsa-this yoga makes the person King of Kings"

In the chart of Obama -Jupiter is in 3rd( 7deg32') navamsa-and in 8H Rahu is in 2nd navamsa(4deg)

and Mars is in 9th navamsa(29deg)

Thus this yoga is not fully applicable on his nativity.

Regards,

G.K.GOEL

Dear Radha ji, The mention of 64th Navamsa (from Lagna Navamsha) is correct and accurate. But there is NOTHING in the sloka that says " Rashi owned by the malefic planet in question" etc. So the quote and the said "Neechabhanga Raja Yoga" is NOT suitable for and is not present in Obama's chart.//> If you move Sen. Obama's birth time by a few minutes to 19:32, the> rising sign in navamsa will be Kanya, and the ruler of the 8th house> will be Mars; Mars is in the eighth house in the rasi chart. This> fits V. Subramanya Sastri's translation in toto.// The sloka demands - Capricon Lagna, Jupiter in Capricon in 2nd Navamsha, Malefic in 2nd Navamshaa of Leo - none of which is present in the above chart. Hope this clarifies. Note: A Raya Yoga is a rare thing (and it should be - because Kings are few in number). But if one simply demands that Jupiter should be in Lagna (even Capricon) and that some malefic like Saturn should be in 8th or simply that some malefic should rule the 64th Navamsa then there would be numerous people who satisfies this condition. Further since Ju and Sa stays in 6-8 axis for long almost 50% or more people born in some perticular years will have this yoga. It sounds absurd. Hope you could see the problem involved.Love and regards,Sreenadh
