Dear All,

Phala Deepika is a text we all rever. But only a very few know

anything about its author Sage Matreswara (Mantreswara Acharya). The

following para gives some infomation about this scholar.

=============

Matreswara, the author of Phala Deepika, took birth in Pancha giri

Grama near Tirunelveli in Tamilnadu state. His real name is 'Markandeya

Bhattar'. His Kula daities are Kulasekhara Perumal (God Siva) and

Sugandha Kundalamba (Godess Parvati). He was a devotee of Godess

Sugandha Kundalamba. He was well versed in many branches of knowledge.

In later years of his life he became a sage and travelled many pilgrim

places thoughout India. At last he reached his native place and had a

peaceful last sleep (Samadhi/Death).

=============

We should at least know something about the author of this useful and

practical text Phala Deepika which we all rever and use. That is why

this small write-up.

Love and regards,

Sreenadh
