Guest guest
Dear Friends, Shardha Pakcha is called MAHAALYA. As Bharni belongs to YAMA Devta - special offering is performed on the day when Bharni rules in this pakcha. Thus it is called - Mahaalaya Bharni in short -Mahabharni. In Acvani Krishna Pakcha ,Bharni falls on 3rd or 4th or 5th tithi. Let us wait if someone can tell us why How and when Bharni can become Mahabharni. Somebody querist in this thread had said that her nakshatra was Mahabharni. I had never heard of it. That is why I put the question before the forum. Regards Neelam 2008/11/8 K Gopu <kgopu_24 (AT) (DOT) co.uk> dear Neelamji, Namaste, In south India, Bharani is never considered as Mahanaksthram. but there is a saying that those born in the star of Bharani will have thecapacity to rule the world. Here Mrigasira, Maham, swati are considered as Maha nakshtras. However if u take Bharani its longititude is 13 deg 20' to 28deg 40'. Its star lord being venus. It is the IInd star starting from aswini, and venus mahadasa is the longest. It starts at the midpoint of the House Aries. this feature of starting at 13 deg 20' is also seen in Poorva Phalguni and Poorvashada whose star lord is venus. I am not sure whether these stars also qualify for Maha nakshtras. regards, k.gopu --- On Fri, 11/7/08, neelam gupta <neelamgupta07@ gmail.com> wrote: neelam gupta <neelamgupta07@ gmail.com> Re: [ancient_indian_ astrology] Re: Help in casting a horoscope ancient_indian_ astrology Friday, November 7, 2008, 9:19 PM Thank you Khurana ji. Guest guest
Dear Goelji, Pitri Paksha is not called Mahalaya. The day devi paksha begins is known as Mahalaya. It is celebrated with great aplomb in Bengal.
