Webcast: Building Applications for the 21st Century

India has become the fourth nation to join the stuff-on-the- Moon club, after the Chandrayaan- 1 spacecraft in lunar orbit successfully launched an impact probe at the lunar surface this afternoon. The 35-kg impactor was blazoned with the Indian flag.

"It will signify the entry of India on Moon," an Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) official said, quoted by the Times of India. The probe drop was described as a "perfect operation".

The Moon Impact Probe (MIP) module was primarily intended "to demonstrate the technologies required for landing the probe at a desired location on the Moon", according to ISRO. It consisted of a "honeycomb structure" and carried a video camera and a mass spectrometer for examination of the tenuous lunar atmosphere during descent.

Indian TV reported the story under the headers "Indian flag lands on lunar surface" and "Tricolour on Moon".

Chandrayaan- 1 will remain in orbit above the Moon for two years, carrying out scientific research. Apart from the MIP it carries a further ten experiments and instruments.

There's more on the MIP from ISRO here (http://www.isro. org/chandrayaan/ htmls/mip. htm). ®

Sir,

Pranam,

Really it is a great achievement for Indian Scientists. Every Indian

is feeling proud on this achievement. Your post in this list of

astrology is also an indicator of your happiness. It shows your love

and dedication towards our country too.

But sir there is one question from me. It may look very foolish but

it is not so in my views.

Is it the same Moon that we use in Vedic Astrology " Chandra "

the " Grah " ?

I will not explain my question any further because I want to learn

from you as your study on Vedic Astrology is quite exaustive and

concepts are quite clear.

Hare rama krishna

dear sushil ji

thanks for the query ,

yes This was a gr8 event for india ,we touched moon ,our neighbor in solar system ,and let us hope it helps in further devlpments in the field and it help us to solv many problems we r facing now .I hope even power generation this moon mission can help us esp non radio activ fussion technology .

now coming to the point

This is my opinion only and may b other senior learned memebrs has diffrnt opinion

physicaly and mathematicaly we take this moon and it s movements for calcualtion .but esotericaly this need not b so,and it is considered as a sochaka only ( indicater or causater )

For example -when we approach delhi frm Lucknow by train when u reach delhi railway station u can see a board welcome to New delhi ,but is the board is new delhi ,no it shows that u reached new delhi .right ,so it is an indicater .same way all this nava grahas were our karma soochakas ,need not take in reality and we r taking only ganita part in physical sense .As all the power of all planets r in each and every atom too .

hope i explained u waht i blv may b true .

may b more learned memebrs will explain better .

all the best and regrds

Dear Sushil Deekshit ji,

//> Is it the same Moon that we use in Vedic Astrology

"Chandra"

> the "Grah" ?//

Please note the following points -

* The astrology we follow

is NOT vedic astrology. The Nirayana astrology we follow is of Agama (Tantric)

origin and is Non-vedic in nature. Vedic astrology is Sayana astrology and is

of Nigama (Vedic) origin - we don't follow the same.

* Chandra is a Sanskrit word and denotes the natural satalite of

earch known as Moon. Chandra and Moon mean the same.

* The word Planet (meaning waderer) is NOT a exact transilation of

the word Grah (meaning 'the one which influences'). Since the word 'Graha'

means 'One that influences', all the following entities such as - Planets,

natural Satellites, special time slices or hypothetical points of mathematical

importance (named such as Gulika, Yamakandaka etc) all can be call Graha. The

word Planet originated from the mistaken concept and world view followed by the

Greeks who believed that planets move in zig-zag paths through the sky. (due to

their erroneous astronomical understanding). India never went through such mis-concepts

in known history - since even the oldest available Indian literature such Vedas

and Tantric texts, points to the fact that the astronomical knowledge it self

was based on the clear understanding that all bodies we find in sky are spherical

in nature, and also that they follow a more or less spherical path. It is based

on this understanding that ancient Indians called astronomy 'Gola' (study of

spheres).

* Now coming to the crux of the question - "Is it the same Moon that we use in Astrology Chandra the

Grah?". The answer would be an emphatic - NO! Why? The Moon as we found in

sky and dealt within astronomy is a physical reality. But when attributed the

numeric significances (like Moon signify - Mother, Water, Love, Mind etc),

Chandra/Moon becomes an ABSTRACT CONCEPT in astrology and becomes one of the

foundation stones of the holistic knowledge branch called astrology. Moon/Chandra

is astrology is the phicial Moon/Chandra, plus something more - it is a basic

CONSTRUCT, required for and used by the holistic knowledge branch called

astrology. Moon/Chandra is the karaka for Sakti, Softness, feelings and what

not! Drop your analytical mind and look at this abstract concept and know the

Moon/Chandra in astrology as one with but different from and more than the

limited physical reality - the satellite of earth Moon/Chandra; and then only

you will get the real feel of Indian astrology.

Hope this answer helped in getting

near to the true answer, which is not clearly convayed even by the above

answer. As per astrology the whole universe is Surya-Chandratmakam (Sun-Moon

combination); it is just synonymous as saying that the universe is

"Siva-Saktya Ukto" as put forward by Soundrya Lahari; this is Sankya;

this is Tantra; this beauty, concept, and understanding of Sun and Moon as per

astrology is never limited to what we see above - the Star Sun and the Satellite

of Earth.

Love and regards,
