I came accross the following verse 2 tanubhavapadam vipra pradhanam padam uchyate Tanoho anucharadhyat syat upa arudham tad uchyate The AL is spoken of as utmost importance. The house following the tanu bhava is taken for the calculation of the upapada I always thought that UL is calculated from the 12th house. So Parashara says 2nd house for calculation, Jaimini says 12th house. Santhanam has mentioned based on Jaimini's other commentaries- chaukumbh hindi edition 12th house for odd sign ascending and 2nd house for even sign ascending. Any other learned views?
