Kalyana Varma , the writer of the voluminous text " Saravali " . He is a king from probably place called Vyaghra pada. There are two other Kalyana varmas in the history - one from Magadha and another from Assam. Kaumudi Mahotsavam in five acts describes that King Kalyana Varma regained his kingdom of Magadha about the times of Samudra Gupta. The Iron pillar also seems to have reference to Kalyana varma. The other Kalyana varma belonged to Kamarupa at around 594 AD (Bhaskara Era) However, the present Kalyana varma belongs to the times after Varaha mihira (CG II ?. 2. Sree Mana Sagara A Monk who has written the great Sri Mana sagari. He has prayed to several Hindu gods including Indra, Vsnu, Siva, Brahma and Ganesha at the beginning of his book. That he has prayed to Lord Krishna and described him as the one who has taken ten avatars indicates that he belonged to Bhakti period. It is interesting to see that he has also prayed to Pashya natha (jain)and the body less yavana natha who aspects the Western side. Hope to hear from you at the earliest, regards, kishore patnaik --- End forwarded message ---
