Guest guest
Dear Sathiyanarayana Gupta ji, There are 3 systems for calculating Rahu Kalam prevelent in India. The concept of Rahu Kalam must have originated around the period when Yama Lordship got allotted to various planets. Love and regards, Sreenadh The system is well evident in existance from the period of 16th century texts such as Prasha Anushtana Paddhati, Prashnamarga etc at least. It must have originated around 14th century or even prior to that. But as per all those texts, Rahu Kala is varjya (not suitable) only for travel; it is acceptable for any other activity. Also not that the currently popular system of Rahu Kala is NOT the one taught by Prashnamarga (which is also known as the Kerala system of Rahukala) but the one that is popular in Tamil nadu and Srilanka. Most possibly this currently popular system of Rahukala, must have got imported from Srilanka to Tamilnadu and from there to whole of India.
