Re: Yogi Karve - determining time of birth intuitively... Recently I went to meet Yogi Karve as someone

interested in all things related to Yoga, rather than someone wanting

an astrology reading. He was visiting an Ashrama near Stroudsburg,

Pennsylvania.During the (usual) quite long wait to meet a

devoted person ("he's doing his puja") his daughter Sanjivani joined us

and demonstrated her own intuitive abilities which she claimed were

genetic and insisted that Yogi Karve had not taught her. She first

asked the Indian man waiting with me to tell her how many planets were

in each house. Using that clue alone, she successfully told him which

particular planets were in each house and then finally his date and

time of birth. He had his chart with him and confirmed her assessment

was correct.I then joined Yogi Karve who first gave me prasad.

He was small and agile without a particularly "pious" demeanour

(without long

beard, slow languid gaze etc.) and was wearing a white kurta (no

topee). He didn't speak English (or chose not to) and relied on the

help of his daughter, and a host from the Ashrama to translate for him.He

drew the Vedic astrology grid on a piece of paper and immediately began

successfully listing the planets in each of my houses. Once when he

paused and seemed to be processing, Sanjivani prompted him with the

number of planets in that house (she was looking at my chart). At the

end he told me the day I was born and told me it was a Tuesday. He said

my time of birth was after 9am and then took quite a long time

(comparatively - only a few minutes) inwardly processing. Presumably

there are also some calculations involved because he had originally

given Sanjivani a number which she wrote down on my chart, and later,

as he was ruminating on my actual time of birth he called out three

numbers which she wrote down, totalled and they equalled the first

number he had (I guess intuitively) given. This confirmed for him

the particular time to the exact minute which was almost exactly the

time my mother had "remembered" though it was not ever listed on my

birth certificate. (She remembered hearing a sea plane taking off as

she was giving birth and knew its regular departure time from that

seaport). In my one, particular case, his intuitive ability

seemed to be his main offering. The subsequent "astrology reading" was

simple and brief. I was told I could ask three questions... (It was of

course more complicated and loose than that.) He actually never

outwardly referred to my chart again. His reading seemed intutitive and

he never once offered any astrological justification for the few simple

comments he gave which were phrases or words. Nothing at length or with

any degree of detail. Sanjivini interjected a few intuitive

comments ("I'm seeing you there in a white kurta" - which, though true

for me on occasions, is hardly remarkable for Western Yoga students who

have spent time in India.) I was given a mantra to practice, which I

hadn't heard before though I recognized his "Jai Jai Raghuveer

Samartha!!" from kirtans in Maharashtra and took this to indicate he

was connected with the Samarth Ramdas sampradaya. After the reading I was taken to the Ashram office and a fee was suggested which was reasonable by Western standards.I would say his intuitive Astrological ability seemed genuine and I was honored to have met him.Graham Ajit Bond[Response to Amit's post (23 May 2009) atAbhinavagupta/message/5033]e: Yogi Karve - determining time of birth intuitively...

Even I have heard about Yogi [Karve] Ji abilities and he is widely respected in

Astrologers.

He is based in Mumbai and famous for giving correct birth time.

About ten years ago I had a reading with Yogi Karve. At the time I was a little

naive and thought all he did was birth-time rectification. I didn't realize he

did spontaneous readings as well.

What Karveji would do is just place his attention on you--nothing else was

needed, and he would slip into samadhi. First he came back with my ascendent.

Then he gave all the planet and the signs and houses they were in sidereally.

He also gave the degrees! All with no information whatsoever.

He then gave my year of birth, the month and the exact time. His

translator then turned to me and asked what my birth certificate said. They

were 5 minutes different. Then he said 'write this time down, as this time comes

from the place without error. This is the moment of your first breath.' Since

that time I've used the new date for my dashas and bhuktis, with very precise

results.

Then, to my surprise, he launched into a description of my entire

life, from the present moment going backwards. Some of the material

was so intimate, it literally took my breath away. He didn't stop with my birth

in this incarnation, he went back even further.

Before finishing, he initiated me into his istha-devata, including the sadhana.

I've had darshan with a lot of saints and yogis, but this has to one

of the most remarkable events in my life.

Re: FW: Yogi Karve - determining time of birth intutively...

Dear Sri Sunthar,

I have not heard or known about the yogi. But this is not within the realm of

impossibility as even Buddha was reputed with not only knowing the past births

but the future states of a being. Patanjali also describes this and says this

is one of the siddhis that a yogi must face during this ascent. If the yogi is

wise, he will ignore such siddhis. But it is human enough to know one's future.

Fear of future pervades all living things (hence the abhaya hasta mudra

[gesture of fearlessness - SV] in numerous deities). if any one is interested

let him meet the yogi had make his/her personal judgement.

a top-secret list:

Yogi Karve

Hello everyone,

I wanted to let you know about a special opportunity. An amazing man

is visiting the U.S. until mid-July. His name is Yogi Karve. He has

the ability to determine from within his own consciousness a person's

time and date of birth, and from that construct that person's natal

horoscope in his mind. He then answers questions regarding the

client's life.

I've had him do this for me a few years ago and was quite impressed.

He's a very old man and does not perform this service for personal

profit. He works solely through voluntary contributions. He's in

Pennsylvania through the 12th of this month. If you're interested in

his services, I recommend calling the Arsha Vidya Ashram, where Yogi

Karve can be reached through their switchboard at 570-992-2339, ext.

1553, through the 12th. He'll be traveling after that, and I don't

have the contact information from that point.

Dear all,

Shri Yogi Karve is a great personality and does not take Fees at least

in Bombay, with hordes of people numbering in hundreds always around

him. Nobody knows whose number would come and when. He chooses the lucky

ones from there. I had taken an appointment with him for morning 11.00

am after giving reference of Shri KN Rao Sahab, and I had gone to ask

about my father who was in ICU 5 years back in a serious condition. My

number came in the evening at around 6.00pm . He asked me not to show my

horoscope and just asked me the birth date. After which he gave me my

rectified birth time (1 minute ahead the recorded time) and went on

deeply thinking in the air with eyes closed, and naraated all the

planets in which houses they would bein My Chart and Lagna too. He was

the only person to give me a positive prediction of my Father that time.

He does so in the midst of hundred os people around. I remember he ahd a

lady secretary (?)that time and he asked her to do certain calculations

which gave me the birth time without my saying anything. He does not

accept money. Those who wish may take some offerings of fruits or

flowers to keep in his Pooja.

he is a real great man.

Bhaskar.
