Susan Boyle, a Scottish amateur singer became an overnight celebrity

on 11 April 2009 when she appeared as a contestant on the third series

of Britain's Got Talent. Boyle leapt to almost immediate global fame

when she sang "I Dreamed a Dream" from Les Misérables in the

competition's first round. Boyle's sudden fame appeared to spring from

her ability to remind her audience that, like them, she is a normal,

flawed and vulnerable person, familiar with disappointment and mockery,

but who nevertheless has the determination to fight for her dream.

Before she sang, both the audience and the judges appeared to express

scepticism, as she was ungroomed and awkward.

Her vocal performance was so outstanding that she has been dubbed

"The Woman Who Shut Up Simon Cowell". She received a standing ovation

from the live audience, attracting yes-votes from Cowell and Amanda

Holden, and the "biggest yes I have ever given anybody" from Piers

Morgan. Media was overflowing about her and online videos of her

performance totalled over 50 million views within a week. Boyle's story

has become a modern parable and a rebuke to people's tendency to judge

others based on their physical appearance.

Boyle was born in Blackburn, West Lothian to Patrick, a storeman at

the British Leyland factory in Bathgate, and Bridget Boyle, a shorthand

typist. The youngest of four brothers and five sisters of whom only six

now survive, Boyle was born when her mother was 47. The Sunday Times

said that it was a difficult birth, during which Boyle was briefly

deprived of oxygen, leading to mild brain damage. She was diagnosed as

having learning difficulties, which led to bullying and mockery at

school.

Boyle's father died in the 1990s, and her siblings had left home,

leaving Boyle to look after her aging mother, who died in 2007 at the

age of 91. Boyle still lives in the family home, a four-bedroom council

house, with her ten-year-old cat, Pebbles. Her mother had always

encouraged her to enter local singing competitions, which she won

several times, and tried to persuade her daughter to enter Britain's

Got Talent, urging her to take the risk of singing in front of an

audience larger than her parish church. Boyle has said she did not feel

ready to do it until after her mother's death. She has said that it was

her mother's death which propelled her to go on "Britain's got Talent"

and seek a musical career as her way of paying a tribute to her mother.

Her performance on the show was the first time she had sung since then.

She has never married, is currently unemployed but active as a

volunteer with Our Lady of Lourdes, a church in Whitburn.

It was a case to be studied astrologically. Her reliable data was

provided by Margaret (of Jyotish Group) which she personally obtained

from Caroline Gerrard, a Scottish astrologer.

Susan Boyle's data: 1st April 1961, 09.50 am, at Bangour Hospital near Broxburn, 03w34, 55n57.

Birth Chart

Dasha at birth: Mo-me-sa

Dasha on 11.4.2009: sa-me-mo

Dashamsha

A major bottle-neck was cleared with Susan's data in hand, all I

needed to do was confirm it for accuracy (there were other times

floating on the net). A quick check for accuracy showed me that data

was correct.

Rahu in 3H makes her the youngest of the siblings.

7L Jupiter debilitates in 8H with 8L Saturn and in his star too, both

7H and 7L aspected by mars, the 6/11L. Rahu aspects 7H and no benefic

aspect is seen. So she never could get married.

No children, obviously, but is seen from the afflictions to 7H and

7L. 7L is retrograde venus in aries, aspected by Rahu. 8L Saturn

aspects 5H and sun causes barrenness.

She is reported to have a distressed birth and a dyslexia in the

childhood. She was born in the vimshottari dasha of Mo-Me-Sa, which

gave her a sick childhood as moon is quite badly afflicted in 4th house. From 1964 she ran a Mars MD, 6/11 lord of diseases afflicting lagna and moon both, besides other indications.

Some notable points in her chart

She is born with a `MISSION', with a Jup-sat conjuction. Since the

conjunction is in 8H, and Capricorn, one would expect delayed, but

sudden results. Saturn is also the 9L.

The luminaries are in mutual aspect in 4-10 axis, both digbali and

at exact degrees. And Mars, the sixth lord and eleventh lord in lagna

at the same degrees as luminaries forms good Kendra aspects.

Her 9th house and 5th house are the pointers

towards a hand of fate and previous karma in her stupendous rise in a

day. Lagna lord mercury in ninth, fifth lord venus aspects his own

house from 11th and 9L Saturn also aspects the fifth. The navamsha position is described along with the singing talent.

Her Singing Talent

The luminaries, being the second and third lord have given her the

voice and singing ability, and as said earlier they are both strong and

digbali in the houses of masses and honour. Venus, the artist and the

performer herself is the strong retrograde fifth lord aspecting the

fifth from the house of gains. Being the 12th lord in 11th,

it also signifies gains from a foreign land. Mercury, the karak of

voice is the lagna lord and in ninth house of bhagya. Moon, the second

lord is in mercury's sign virgo, in own star and sun, the third lord is

in pisces in mercury's star. The joining of natal lagna lord, fifth

lord and eleventh lord in the fifth house of performing arts and poorva

punya, aspected by the natal ninth lord makes the purpose of the soul

clear.

11th April 2009, a Twist of Fate

She was running the vimshottari dasha of sat-mer-mon on 11 Apr 2009,

which explains her entry and huge success quite clearly, not only from

natal chart, but also from her dashamansha.

In the natal chart, mahadashanath Saturn is ninth lord in eighth, aspecting the 10th house (karma), 2nd house (voice) and 5th house (exalted drishti on previous merits, as from moon also sat is in own 5th house), mercury is the lagna lord and fourth lord in the ninth giving her the luck factor through self and masses. 2nd lord moon, herself in the 4th house of mercury, aspected by 3L sun from the 10th is self-explanatory. Mars the 6th and 11th lord of competitions and success in lagna ensures the success of pratyantar lord moon.

In D-10, Saturn, the MD lord, exalts in the 3H of effort, throat and

singing, mer, the AD lord, and the karak of vaani exalted in the 2H of

voice, and moon, the PD lord moon, is digbali aspected by LL sun and

3/10L venus in 10H.

When success knocks, 9H must open. Dasha sequence of Sa-Me-Mo-Ju-Ketu on 11th April 2009 is all for luck with all the dasha planets connected strongly with the ninth.

It might also be worthwhile to export the role of her AmK mars in

lagna, as the char dasha on that day was vi-cp-ge and Gemini is the

lagna from where Amk is placed. The AmK-Pk (SUN) rajyoga in Gemini, the

char PD, also confirms her success.

Full support from Transits

Transits from natal moon

Transits from natal moon should reveal a better picture for a

creative activity, moon being the pratyantarnath also. In transit on 11

April 2009, moon is in libra from second from her natal virgo house.

Both saturn and mercury are aspecting her moon. There is a beautiful

symphony played in the heavens as all the planets aspect moon sign,

sun, venus from 7H, Jupiter from 5H and mars from 6H of competition,

Saturn in retrograde motion from 11th house of success. Her lagna lord transits in 8th house from moon, aspecting transit moon in libra makes her rise like a phoenix.

A quick look at transit on varga reveals an interesting line-up. In

the navamsha, the dasha planets are touching 5, 9 and 11. In the

dashamansha, they light up lagna, ninth and 3rd primarily.

What lies ahead?

Boyle started saturn's mahadasha from 2005. Saturn is her 8th and 9th

lord, in eighth, aspecting 10H, 2H and 5H. By her own admission, she

could not enter this competition, till her mother was alive. Note the

aspect of Saturn on 5H and 10H which are the marak houses of mother,

and when mother is no-more, in sat-sat, she is free from the bondage

and the same houses started working for self in sat-mer and she saw a

rise of fate. Now the Saturn MD, with Saturn well placed in navamsha

and dashamansha, ensures a good trend in this mahadasha. She will now

be inclined to take up singing as her career and will also get offers

to do so. She is likely to get huge offers from well-known companies to

sing for them.

Jup-Sat conjunctions appear to indicate a mission in the life of a

nativity and whenever their conjunctions and oppositions appear in

transit, it is time to watch out for the fulfilment of the mission.

From 5 May till the end of July, Jup-saturn are in opposition and with

her finals slated to go on air in June 2009, she will get the desired

planetary support to accomplish her mission.
