Manmohan Singh: Back with a bang again

By Anand Sagar Pathak

After the UPA government won the 2009 general elections, Dr. Manmohan Singh was reappointed as the Prime Minister of India on May 22, 2009, making him the first Indian Prime Minister since Jawaharlal Nehru to return to power after completing a full five-year term.

The UPA government was sworn on 22nd May 2009 at 06:30 PM in the Ashoka Hall of Rastrapati Bhawan, New Delhi. The lagna chosen was Scorpio. Being a fixed sign, it represents stable government at the centre. Saturn in the 10th house indicates that the new government means business. It will push development agenda further.

The placement of Jupiter in the 4th house and aspect of Saturn on the 4th house (own house) indicates that the government at the centre is stable and will last its full term.

However, the placement of retrograde Mercury in the 7th house indicates that allies will keep on posing problems for the Government by making irrational demands. Keeping the flock together will be the biggest work for congress.

The placement of Ketu in the 9th house indicates that foreign policy will be the main area of focus for the government till September 2010. The problems emerging in foreign lands relating to economic, political or social problems of ethnic Indians will continue to affect the country.

Challenges before Manmohan Singh:-

Health:Manmohan Singh has a history of heart ailment and underwent coronary bypass surgery in 1990 and angioplasty in 2004. Singh also underwent a second bypass surgery at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) on 24 January 2009. Health can be a concern for him in the present tenure as the Prime Minister of India. Astrologically, placement of Moon in the sixth house is not very good for the health prospects of the Head of state in astrology.

Security Threats and Neighborhood Environment:Apart from the threats from the Western front especially from Jihadi terrorists, India also faces threats from China. The Chinese have constructed ports in Kyauk Phyu in Burma, Hambantota in Sri Lanka and Gwadar in Pakistan which can be easily converted into naval bases. Saturn's transit in Leo rashi will keep security personnel always on toes. The Maoists have already spread their influence in the north in Nepal and Tamil problem is still alive in the south in Sri Lanka. With 78 member ministry, the present Government is expected to keep an eye on these matters and selection of S.M. Krishna, Shashi Tharoor and Parmeeta Kaur for this job looks good.

Economic Problems and Creation of New jobs:The world is passing through tough economic patch. Corporates are making losses. Economic slowdown syndrome is all pervasive. There are job cuts in all major sectors in the world. India today is directly affected by the problems of the west. The retrogression of 11th lord Mercury indicates that government has to spend a lot to help the economy come out of problems. There shall be depletion in the foreign exchange reserve in the country. There will be a decline in the revenue of the government as well. Fiscal problems will be a big concern. Since he is the architect of liberalized economy, the pace of growth will be good despite all odds. The Mahadasa of Sun will start in the horoscope of India from 12 th September 2009. Hence, Government will have to take initiative to create new jobs. They cannot depend on private sector alone to create more jobs.

The UPA government under the leadership of Manmohan Singh is likely to complete its full term. However, if the health of Manmohan Singh deteriorates, he may step down as Prime Minister of the country.

Pranams,

Mr.Sreeram ji,

Astrologer Pathak appreciates mukurtha time .But I don't  think this 2009

swearing-in mukurtha would be no better than 1971 swearing-in mukurtha, since it

was the only mukurtha enhanced the life of then Lok Sabha. The top of the story

would be1962 Swearing-in,it has given us five priministers.

Sincerely,

Dhananjayan
