The Varun yagnas will start in major temples on Wednesday, according to endowments minister G Venkat Reddy. Sahasra Ghatabhishekam will be performed in all Shiv mandirs. This time, the CM wants to involve the other two important religions in the state â€" Christianity and Islam. He requested special prayers be conducted at churches and mosques for rains.Though Hyderabad showed a bit of a fall in temperatures and recorded rains twice since June 1, other parts of the state including Visakhapatnam and Vijayawada are recording scorching temperatures and even a heatwave. Farmers all over the state are worried. If sowing does not take place before July 1, the crops will suffer, according to Andhra Pradesh Rytu Sangham general secretary S Malla Reddy. Monsoon sets in AP around June 5.Last year, the TTD conducted Varun yagna as a very big event at Hyderabad’s exhibition grounds. The government believed that the lengthy ritual of fire, conducted to the tune of Vedic hymns chanted by a group of priests, was answered.
