Guest guest
Sunthar, No problem. I just want to tell you that I have done a good deal of research work on the subject and know for sure that Rashis are mentioned in the Veda, Purana (fifth Veda) and Vedanga Jyotisha and that was much before the Greeks knew astrology. Manu Smriti recommended that the kings should consult astrologer and Mahabharata also mentions astrology. So astrology was practised more than 5000 years ago. This is irrespective of whether I believe in astrology or not. When you lift the ban you may inform me. I am glad that on my part I have not acted negatively. Are you by any chance disturbed that I gave a proper reply to your uncalled for accusations. In your last mail you wrote that Avtar is a brahmin and that he was swearing. I wonder why anybody has to bring in the caste system in the discussions and why one should swear as an weapon. Truth has its own strength and one need not swear. What is all that? Can you please elaborate it? Thanks in advance./ Sunil --- On Thu, 7/2/09, Sunil <Sunil wrote: Sunil <Sunil [Abhinavagupta] Re: No Proofs that Mesha etc. rashis were imported into India! vedic_research_institute Cc: vedic astrology , , WAVES-Vedic , USBrahmins , Abhinavagupta Thursday, July 2, 2009, 3:47 AM Sunil, Your posting privileges have been suspended for (at least) 6 months: * Whereas your 'indigenous' claims have been dispassionately debunked by a long citation from an official report published under the authority of Meghnad Saha, you resort to the unethical tactic of exonerating the latter and accusing Avtar of being a prime-mover of a worldwide 'anti-Hindu' conspiracy. If you represent 'Hinduism', I don't want any of it on this Abhinavagupta list. * In your haste to repeat your convictions for the umpteenth time, you have again not bothered to replace Avtar's original post with a hyperlink. * The (brahmin-) frogs in the Rigveda, despite being ritualists as opposed to 'scientists' , prayed year-long, and with good humor, for the life-giving rain to shower on everybody; these dessicated frogs-in-the- well believe there could be no water outside their small universe. Given your passion for these subjects, 6 months of retirement from forum-posting should suffice to research and draft separate monographs systematically expounding your views on the Rashi and Textbook controversies. Please send a note to the list owner when they are ready, and we can upload them to the Files sections for further, *constructive* , discussion. Thanks. Sunthar [Rest of this thread at Sunthar's comments (02 July) on Francesco's post (01 July 2009) at http://groups. / group/Abhinavagu pta/message/ 5243] ---- Dear friends, Meghnad Saha has never uttered a word that the Rashis are imported. He was a dedicated scientist. He was a titular head of the committee by virtue of his being an astrophysicist. His voice was required in astronomical matters only if at all. He had not interfered in the decisions of the Jyotishis. Only an unscrupulous person will drag Dr. Meghnad Saha's name to any question on the place of origin of Rashis. When the Vamana purana, Narada purana and the Bhagavata purana are older than Varahamihira then why anyone should bring in Varahamihira' s name and not take into account the evidence of the Puranas. Please do'nt trust these enemies of the Hindu Jyotish shastra, who are trying to prove that the Rashis are imported from the Greeks. Sincerely, Sunil K.
