I was exposed to this culture long back, maybe about 25 years ago, where

they used to tell us Group members (Elite groups in Bombay and

elsewhere) to call each other by first name which tag (Label) we had to

button up on our shirts and so did the ladies have to do on their top

half dresses. But for me it was very difficult to merge in this culture

and luckily I did not. Among the years that followed with many more

sociteties, groups, clubs etc. later on, I still can say that this

culture has not touched me.

We must certainly as Indians, respect our culture. If we do not respect

our own culture then who will ? It will otherwise be lost in the ravages

of times to come.

I would never like any young boy half my age, or even of my age to

address my mother with her first name, in same way i do not have right

to do so with others mothers. Its simple as this. Translate this onto

the other relations and relationships of family and Life.

A man of knowledge, a man of experience, a man of expertise, a man of

senior age, a man of God, a man of Birth as a Brahmin, all these have to

be respected irrespective of other factors , is what our culture teaches

us.

best wishes,

Bhaskar.

not common .It doesnt matter who is senior or junior , we have to

be humble and respectfull for each other .
