Guest guest
Dear List Here is a discussion happened in another grp abt uttarakalamrita assigned to kalidasa pls read it rgrds sunil nair ############################################################################## My intention was not discard Uttarakalamrita as such. It was only a warning not use the dictoms without varifying it. For example: The verse 34 of grahabhavaphaladhya ya explains the bhava pada or aruda pada of each bhava. "bhaavesho bhavanaaccha yaavati...." However, the author does not provide the exceptions as given either by Parasara or Jaimini (there is slight difference in both). So Which system is Kalidasa follow? Parasara or Jaimini. Further take a look at the verse no 32 in the same chapter "uogasyaapyavayogaj asya...." In this verse the author claims that the planets should be within 12 degrees to form a yoga. This is understandable. In the same verse he also states that the yoga is formed when a fast moving planet is behind a slow moving planet and within 12 deg. If the fast moving planet is ahead of slow moving planet, yoga is not useless. do you recognise the concept? it is Tajik system. Secod part of Uttarakalamritha is not related to Astrology but rituals. Rituals as we know are sect/race/state etc centric. So the author has compiled the book from various sourses. My point is to refer or depend directly on those base sources, so as not to use them out of context or wrongly. Having said the above I won't in any way disqualify the text. In fact One of the traslators of Dasadhyayee (bhrihat Jataka) of Varahamihira, shree Harijayantham Namboothiripadu has refered this book, which is why I had taken a closer look at it. Uttarakalamritha & graha Karakatwa========================================I would like to point out that the Author has provided an exhaustive list of Karakatwa or factors related to each planet and bhava. This is particularly helpfull both in Jataka as well as Prashana. There are some interesting pointers stated by the author. It is worth taking a look at those verses provided in 4th chapter A.G.Suresh Babu Shenoy###########################################################
