Guest guest
Namaste, In order to incorporate the timezone, I had to change the atlas data format. Timezone computation turned out to be far more complex than I had imagined. The timezone borders are aligned with neither the state borders nor the county borders. So we cannot determine the timezone based on state or county. I had to do a lot of research on timezone definitions. Finally I had to download the boundaries from a US government site in "shapefile" format and download some freeware for reading shapefiles and had to write an algorithm to determine which region each city belongs to. That stupid shapefile has thousands of polygonal regions defined and some regions have upto 70,000 vertices! I hope I can get something similar for the timezones of Canada, Australia, Russia and China. While adding the timezone info to the atlas, I added altitude/elevation (height from sea level) too. I have also added seconds in longitudes and latitudes and the data is from a US government database. It's supposed to be accurate. Download the latest jhatlas.adb database and adbread.exe reader from http://www.sjvc.org/adb.zip This is about 2.6 MB in size. Password for unzipping is naaradanuta Unzip and copy the two files to the same directory and run adbread.exe under a command prompt (DOS shell). For India, UK and Australia, there is no change in this new data from the old data. Australian timezones are only approximate and I still have to do research on the exact timezone borders. Other countries are yet to be added. The only change from the previous version is that US data has better precision (seconds) and includes elevation, timezone and summer timezone. Here is an example of two timezones in nearby US towns: C:\tmp>adbread burling USIN "burling" in USIN: # City Country Longitude Latitude Altitude (TZ, Summer TZ) 1: Burlington, IN, USA: 86 W 23' 41", 40 N 28' 49", 780 m (-5.0, -5.0)2: Burlington Beach, IN, USA: 87 W 2' 43", 41 N 30' 21", 812 m (-6.0, -5.0) Though these two towns are nearby, one uses EST (with no daylight saving time in summer) and the other uses CST (with daylight saving time in summer). Guest guest
OM SRI GURAVE NAMAH Dear Narasimha, Marvellous as usual. This must be kids play for one as good as you. There is a small but torturous mosquito in the program. PROBLEM: When I make a transit chart, the details show up with all the calculations and even in the Key info, we have two tables side by side showing the Transit and Natal data, but in the miscellany frame, this does not show i.e. transit data is not available. Only natal data is there. We need degress and Nakshatra for this and it would be worthwhile if the transit data which was showing up in the earlier version is restored. Chart attached. Transit for 6 Jan 1994 sought when he came to India. Another small request: please make the Body, Longitude, Nakshatra columns in the miscellany slightly smaller so that we can see the AK etc whenever we open this page instead of having to reduce the columns manually every time the page is opened. Is it possible that the computer remembers the sizes of frames last used and opens the chart in this frame size? I have been very quiet in the list for some time - retrogression of Jupiter has had its reversals for me and am waiting for the Sun to cross the degrees of Saturn - I think another 12 days. Can anyone run the transit and give me the exact date and time for this? Best Regards Sanjay Rath http://sanjayrath.tripod.com - " Narasimha P.V.R.
