Guest guest
Hi PVR,Jhora 7.02 and Jhora 7.1b2 produces very small differences in output data using the same birth data under these similar conditions :- same Lahiri Ayanamsa (first ayanamsa option in 7.02 and in 7.1b2)- same Sunrise and sunset definition (The center of Sun's disk is truly on the eastern horizon) - same computerUsing your chart as an example (i.e. Author of this software.jhd) :Description --> Jhora 7.02 --> Jhora 7.1b2 Lahiri Ayanamsa --> 23-26-35.56 --> 23-26-29.92 Lagna --> 12 Vi 59' 39.65" --> 12 Vi 59' 45.28"Sun --> 20 Pi 52' 19.32" --> 20 Pi 52' 19.65" Moon --> 28 Aq 30' 31.82" --> 28 Aq 30' 31.17" Mars --> 26 Ar 40' 27.72" --> 26 Ar 40' 27.97" Mercury --> 3 Ar 07' 15.23" --> 3 Ar 07' 15.57" Jupiter --> 9 Li 45' 51.67" --> 9 Li 45' 52.13" Venus --> 7 Ar 54' 42.87" --> 7 Ar 54' 43.22" Saturn --> 15 Ar 06' 11.04" --> 15 Ar 06' 11.34"As you can see, the differences are very very very small, i.e. less than 1 arc second. Sorry for over-emphasing how small this difference is just in case some readers here did not comprehend the implications and start going around saying Jhora 7.1b2 produces "wrong" data. :)Call it intellectual curiosity or fanatical pursuit for precision (afterall Jyotisa is very concern about precise data), but under exactly the same settings in the same computer, shouldn't the data be exactly the same down to the last decimal of an arc second? Is it because of the addition of the atmospheric pressure and temperature settings introduced in 7.1b2?Could you kindly comment on this?Thank you.Best Wishes,PushyaP.S. There are many many things I like about 7.1b2. I will try to describe all of them later because due to time constraint, I prefer, *for the time being*, to focus on finding potential bugs and useful features dropped from previous version. Guest guest
Namaste, Swiss Ephemeris has an in-built Lahiri ayanamsa. JHora 7.02 did not use it. The formula I used slightly differed from the Swiss Ephemeris formula. Now JHora uses the Lahiri ayanamsa programmed in Swiss Ephemeris. BTW, when mentioning the version you are using, there is no need to mention the build (e.g. 7.1 build 2). Just say 7.1. The idea is not to have multiple builds in each version. I was earlier using numbers like 7.02, 7.03 etc. Now I decided to use only one decimal place. The release after 7.1 will be 7.2. Only when a release has a serious problem, a second build will be released. In such a case, the expectation is that the previous build is useless and everybody is strongly advised to update to the second build. There is no need to distinguish between 7.1 and 7.1 build 2. For all practical purposes, 7.1 build 2 replaces the first 7.1 and becomes the official 7.1 release.
