Guest guest
Namate Ji, Please anyone help me to find out why calculation in Bengal in finding Ashtotarri Dasa is different from the normal text procedure ?. I need help please. For example if someone is born in Hasta Nakshatra instead of Mars Dasa it is Mercury's Dasa in Bengal. Your help will be appreciated Thanks Sukumar
Guest guest
Namaste Sir, Unfortunately, I am not from Bengal and unfamiliar with this variation. Ashtottari dasa coded in JHora is based on Parasara's teaching only. I can only *guess* the basis for the "Bengal" variation you mention. The counting in Parasara's teaching starts from Ardra ("raudrabhaaditah", i.e. starting from the star of Rudra, i.e. Ardra). If you reckon the counting from Aswini (beginning of the zodiac) instead of Ardra, Hasta will indeed give Mercury dasa instead of Mars dasa. So perhaps some people count from Aswini instead of Ardra. If somebody familiar with the "Bengal" variation can confirm that counting is from Aswini and the rest is the same as Parasara's teaching, I can try to add this option in a future release of JHora.
