Namaste,

I would like to find out why the time shown for RahuKalam using JH is so

different to that method mentioned in BPHS and other research of mine i.e.

calculate the hours between sunrise and sunset for a location and divide by 8

then allocate rulers for the hours etc.

Namaste,

Can you give a reference in BPHS regarding the Rahu kaalam definition? Which chapter and which verse?

Namaste dear Narasimhaji,

Firstly, I want to thank you for this wonderful software and information

provided by yourself and also Guru Sanjay Rathji. I am a jnr. student and trying

to find my way around and appreciate your guidance.

I have come across ch.3-66-69 of BPHS about calculation of Gulik etc.

and to my understanding it would mean dividing the day portion i.e. sunrise -

sunset / 8 and then allocate that division of time to the rulers respectively.

I am a bit confused with this regard and cannot find mention of exact

calculations in texts but a lot of Jyotishas are using the method I mentioned

above.

Do you mind sharing how and what reference you are using to calculate these.

Also, I noticed that some of these times given, for example Rahu Kalam on a

Sunday sometimes goes beyond sunset.

Please assist.

Thanks

Amith
