Guest guest
Dear Shri Narasimha Rao ji & others, We are very grateful to Narasimha ji for presenting a wonderful software to us. I have been using JHora from ver 7.0. I wish to place a request regarding J-Hora. I could get even a simple " chart searching " option in J-Hora. For example, I have around 1000 charts in my PC. I want to find how many charts have Venus in Vargottama. But, this task is not possible in JHora 7.33. We all know that an astrology software give us 3 major advantages: (1)Calculations speed,(2) Accuracy & (3) Research features. Frankly speaking, J-Hora does wonders in first two but it lacks research features. As a budding astrologer, i think " Search feature " is one of the essential feature of an astrology program. It is an important thing missing in Jagannatha Hora. Instead of appending additional features, it is wiser to include such essential features. It is just my opinion. Further, I am sure that these features will greatly speed up our EMPIRICAL & STATISTICAL STUDIES in Jyotish. I do not know why J-Hora does not include " Search for Charts " feature even after the release of version 7.33! I humbly request Narasimha ji to consider this point and make J-Hora a bit " Research oriented " also. Thanks & Regards, Vino.
Guest guest
Though this question is addressed to Narasimhaji I'll try to answer this. JHora does not store the results of computations in the .JHD file only the birth data needed for computation. Every time a .JHD file is opened the software engine recomputes the data and displays it. So a search feature built into the software would only dig up the .JHD files based on filename matching or atmost the birth details contents etc., - Which the Windows Explorer does to large extent. If you have some programming background - you can create a custom search application. The more relevant search would be an ability to search thru the unlinked .TXT notes file. For a Research oriented approach - before the search feature can be developed - their needs to be a way to extract the pertinent information from the JHORA software (For example. Lagna is vargottama or Atmakaraka in Gandanta ,or Sarpa dosha etc.,) and also save it to file etc., These files can then be processed in the Search Utility for what you are looking - In short we are two steps away. He says " It is too difficult (for others) and it would also be very inflexible " . He adds " But, for Narasimha ji, it is easier and it would probably take few days as he is both a programmer and an astrologer and he also knows the code-structure of J-Hora. " Let's all pray Lord Jagannatha and also request Narasimha ji to add this HIGHLY USEFUL FEATURE in Jagannatha Hora 7.34 or 8.0! Regards, Vino.
