Namaste,

I confirm that no changes were made in 7.33 that would affect the speed.

If ephemeris files are deleted by accident, then JHora will be using an internal model (instead of just referring to the ephemeris) and that would slow things down. Check if jhcore/ephem directory has sepl_18.se1 and semo_18.se1 files (planetary and Moon ephemeris files for 1800-2399 AD). Similarly, if you are looking at a chart in 1600 AD, check if sepl_12.se1 and semo_12.se1 files are there (planetary and Moon ephemeris files for 1200-1799 AD). If one installed a short version, ephemeris files only for 1800-2399 AD are installed and the internal model is used for other dates.

If ephemeris files for the current date range are missing for some reason, JHora will run slowly. Especially dasa calculations are slow because ephemeris will be accessed thousands of times to find the precise dasa change dates and times, when using 360 deg solar years.

If the files exist and still JHora is slow, probably the hard disk or memory accesses (of which there are many in JHora) are slow in your PC. The speed you get is the best you can get.

But if ephemeris files are missing, copy them or do a re-install.

|| Om gurave namah ||Dear Narasimha, Thank you,I had my " jcore " directory compressed (Windows folder option to keep directories compressed to save space " . I just remove the settings so it seems to be fine now.

That day I also was trying to work sri krishna chart (based on the Manish pandit's documentary) after working on Krishna's chart the machine became slow even for other charts, I had thought that this was due to working with BC charts.

After uncompression it seem so ok now.Warm RegardsSanjay P2009/9/2 Narasimha P.V.R. Rao <pvr

Dear Sanjay,

Namaste SanjayP and others,

I am glad you are all set now.

Please do not use windows compression for jhcore directory or its

sub-directories. The ephmeris and atlas files in jhcore directory will be

accessed heavily when you use JHora. If windows file system has to keep

uncompressing the data on hard disk everytime we access a file in those

directories, it will slow things down considerably.

You should use windows compression to save space only on files or directories

that you do not access frequently.

Best regards,

Narasimha
