Guest guest
Dear members, In Lal Kitab, it's mentioned if in the native's chart Sun is in 8th house, then living in a house with entrance from South is bad. Remedy suggested is: Donate a goat once a year or any other thing associated with Mercury once a year or every now and then. What are the other things of Mercury that can be replaced with Goat in this case ? Perhaps one of them is Sabut Mung daal. What are others ? What should be the quantities of these and how often these should be donated ? Thanks, Anshev B. Bhardwejj
Guest guest
Dear Anshev ji, It is not mentioned in the Lal Kitab that the karak objects of mercury must be donated once in a year if the Sun is in the 8th house. Where did you get this from? Guest guest
Priya Jee, I think this is how the author of LK book that Anshev Jee is reading, came up with the rationale. For those with Sun in the eighth, the house facing South is not considered auspicious. Then somewhere else in LK (52) towards the end, it states that those living in South facing house may donate Mercury related articles. Then somewhere else, donation of a goat (bakree) is suggested for Mercury. The author of the LK helpbook put two and two together and suggested this difficult remedial measure. What if Mercury is strong/auspicious in the horoscope and you dwell in a South-facing house, donating a live article of Mercury will most definitely cause a new set of problems, for sure. That is why I avoid generalized remedial measures unless specifically stated so in the original LalKitab. Guest guest
Anshev Jee, The confusion that Priya Jee and I have, is caused by the fact that the overall upaya is not mentioned in any of the five books, as far as I can tell. I could be wrong but I don't remember seeing this in context of Sun in the eighth. Before donating a goat, one must look at Mercury first. In my opinion, that is imperitive. Just see what happened to Shree Gupta Jee - he was prescribed illogical and non-standard remedial measures. At the same time, I see where you are coming from and you are 100% justified in your belief - you are going by what you have seen in these two books. I haven't seen Shri Chillar's book so I can't comment on that. The Vashist-Goswami book, which I initially thought was quite well done. But on further reading, I put it aside because of atrociously unacceptable translation. It is collecting dust somewhere in a closet and I have reverted back to the original LalKitab. Guest guest
Dear Anshev ji, [ 1 ] I agree with shri Bhatia ji that none of the books on or about Lal Kitab are as exaustive as the book itself. The Goswami- Vashishtha translation is not only 'atrocious' it is incomplete as well. I have both the books that you have mentioned , along with almost every book published on or about the Lal Kitab and yet I always consult the 1952 ed. Incidentaly , Arun Sanhita is as good or bad as the G+V translation. I am not sure , but G+V translation seems to be that of Arun Sanhita and not the original 1952 ed. [ 2 ] Gifting a goat or karak objects of mercury is mentioned in Lal Kitab page 1139-40 {52 ed} for any one living in a house facing south. It is a general upaya mentioned. And I agree with Bhatia ji that the upaya should be done only after confirming the nature of Mercury. [ 3 ] However gifting a goat is not an upaya for the Sun in the 8th instead it is a general upaya mentioned for those living in a house facing south. [ 4 ] There are other upaya for those living in a south facing house , like : { a } Fix copper nails at the south gate. OR { b } Fix a silver strip under the threshhold across the full length gate. OR { c } Keep at home an earthen monkey { mitti ka bandar }. Keep the monkey such that it faces south. OR { d } Gift sabut moong on wednesdays. sincerely, Priya lalkitab , Rajinder Bhatia <rajinderbhatia2002> wrote: > Anshev Jee, > > The confusion that Priya Jee and I have, is caused by the fact that the overall upaya is not mentioned in any of the five books, as far as I can tell. Guest guest
Priya Jee, Couldn't have been said better. Thanks for a comprehensive write-up. As pointed out by you, upayas (b) and © can be done for everyone (although not so mentioned in LK but Pandit Som Dutt Jee has always recommended these.) The monkey can be a clay or a plastic toy and should be "looking" towards the main door so that anyone that comes in, the monkey "looks" at him/her. The silver strip should be a ribbon-like, one-piece thin strip and should not be like a rod (must not be round from anywhere.) Incidentally, the houses in the Southern hemisphere are exempt from this South facing anamoly. Guest guest
Dear Bhatiaji and Priyaji, Thanks for your insights. Bhatiaji, Can the toy monkey be made of any material ? (clay/plastic/wood/cloth ?).. Can it be a picture of the monkey looking towards the door ? If so, hanging a picture of Lord Hanuman would be an auspicious possibility. (Just as some people have picture of Ganesh ji looking at the entrance door) This is a very valuable post. Guest guest
Anshev Jee, From what I understand, it can be a clay/ceramic/plastic monkey. I don't know about wooden or cloth as materials for this purpose. Most definitely, it is to be monkey and not Lord Hanuman's picture or idol. These two entities signify entirely different planets.
