Dear Professor,

I read some of the stuff on the website over the weekend and this raised a

question: In my case, Scorpio ascendant, Mars (Aris in 6th) is a

functional malefic but as it is also the lord of the ascendant, should it

not become benefic? If I am going througha dasa of Mars (I am not

currently), does it meanm that there will also be bad effects relating to

the ascendant, eventhough Mars is in the 10th and aspects the ascendant?

You also told me to be patient in studying the SA. Is it because this is a

general advice to Scorpio ascendants? Also, in the advice, you mention

that Scorpios should render service to younger brothers and sisters. I

have none, does it mean that I should help cousins? (d.o.b: 9/7/72, Delhi,

4 pm).

Regards,

Prithvi

Dear Prithvi,

In Systems Approach, lordship is limited to Mool Trikona signs.

Aries is the MT sign of Mars.

So with Scorpio lagna, Mars becomes lord of Aries and hence a

functional malefic planet.

Mars is aggressive by nature, being 6th MT lord it even rules over

the disputes for Scorpio Asc people.

Morning prayers and being patient always help bring Mars in control.

I hope this helps.

Thanks for your input, Sameerji. I am impatient by nature. However, Mars

aspecting the ascendant Scorpio, is that good or bad. i.e it neutralizes

the malefic influence or enhances it ( relating to the Lagna). Under the

traditional approach, I would have said that mars in the 10th means that

there are hindrances/ enemies at the place of work. However, the 4th

aspect on the Lagna should mean that I will be full of confidence.

What is the SA interpretation of this? I must say that the period Jup/ Mar

was not that positive although Jup/ Mon gave me a breakthrough. Jup/ Sun

was a particularly bad period as regards work. This would suggest that Sun

is a malefic?

I am confused.

Hello Prithvi,

The close aspect of Mars to the MEP of the ascending sign of Scorpio gives

injuries and conflicts/disputes. So, it is not good and is bad.

Best wishes,

Dear Prithvi,

In case Mars aspects the asc. closely it can cause disputes and

diseases to the native.

If you go through your chart via SA principles, you can see for

yourself why did you fare well in the Moon sub-period and suffered

during Sun's period.

Moon is the strongest planet in your chart and rules 9th house of

fortune/father/dharma/spirituality etc.

Sun the 10th MT lord is placed in 8th house and closely afflicted by

nodes. (within 5 deg orb).

Sun is not a malefic but its a benefic which is suffering on account

of placement in 8th house and affliction by nodes.

Dear professor,

Head and knee injuries to be precise. I have both, but these were not

sustained in Jup/Mar 20/01/2001-27/12/2001 started well and I got more

responsibility at work but then in the last 3-4 months of the at year,

there was intrigue at work and I got powerful enemies. I changed jobs at

the end of the year - to my big relief ( 27.12.2001). this would suggest

that both positive and negative forces were at work and in the end the

negative forces won. The income was pretty good. The period Jup/ Sun

03/12/1998-21/09/1999 was disastrous as far as work and income are

concerned. Under the SA, benefic/ benefic should have been good but it was

a disastrous year. How would this be explained in SA. Under the

traditional approach, the lord of 10th is in 8th = bad position, also, it

is placed with Venus and Rahu, both enemies. this would explain work

related problems. Jup/ Rah 27/12/2001-21/05/2004. The first 8 months were

good income wise, but there was a great loss in that my spiritual master,

Brahmarishi Vishvatma Bawaraji left his physical body in Feb 2002. 2003-

2004 was quite bad - losses and tension.

I cannot understand Jup/ Sun under SA.

Dear Sameerji,

Thanks for answering this e-mail in advance. Can you through some light as

to why I " lost " my Guru in Jup/ Rah. You arev right about Jup/Mar, the

tension was almost unbearable.

Thanks for your insight. I am learning, learning fast. Also, why should

Scorpios try to be considerate to younger brothers and sisters?

Dear Prithvi,

10th house also rules the knees and weakness of Sun is the cause for

that.

Head is ruled by lagna and you dont have any serious afflictions to

the 1st house.

Mars is 6th MT lord which is afflicting 2nd MT lord Jupiter. 2nd

house is also closely afflicted by 12th MT lord Venus. Ketu is

closely afflicting Mars via 9th house aspect.

So Mars sub-period in general would have caused problem with

finances/family/health etc.

Sub period lord sets the trend but transits govern the results on day

to day basis.

So to see why you lost your Guru during Rahu antara you need to see

the transits for that period.

As I mentioned earlier you were lucky enough atleast to have the

presence of a spiritual Guru in your life because of the strength of

9th MT lord Moon.

I would advise you to be patient with learning of SA and go though

all principles step by step before applying it on your chart.

This kind of learning might not suffice in long term.

Sameer

Sameerji,

Guruji left his body on 8 February 2002. Why did you think that it wss the

morning of 2 Feb? One thing is clear that 3 benefics aspect my 9th house.

This is probably the reason that I was blessed with such a spiritual and

intellectual giant.

I got the answer to my question.

Mars The Mars rules younger brothers or servants. When as a functional

malefic planet, Mars is causing afflictions in a horoscope the person is

suggested to render help to one's younger brothers or servants. The person

should perform morning prayers so that one is saved of accidents and

injuries. The person can also offer food articles to a cow.

Dear Sameerji,

Thanks for answering this e-mail in advance. Can you through some light as

to why I " lost " my Guru in Jup/ Rah. You arev right about Jup/Mar, the

tension was almost unbearable.

Thanks for your insight. I am learning, learning fast. Also, why should

Scorpios try to be considerate to younger brothers and sisters?

Re: Re: Lord of ascendant

Hello Prithvi,

The close aspect of Mars to the MEP of the ascending sign of Scorpio gives

injuries and conflicts/disputes. So, it is not good and is bad.

Best wishes,
