Guest guest
Dear , I read regularly your interventions with great respect and in learning spirit. However I find that almost every astrologer I met do not care (enough, if at all) about birth time data (whether its realibility, or if it is DST or not). Many time I have put this to the front, even if it meant confrontation (and many times, it did!). No astrological work can be reliable without a proper research on birth time. For this, Astrodienst is where we should go (on the internet -http://www.astro.com/cgi/aq.cgi-). Otherwise, Thomas Shanks' books are the one to rely on- I have had Doane, Gauquelin, Le Corre and Gabriel's ones -but never are they as complete and reliable as Shanks' books -The American and International Atlases-).... Most of the countries in the world are not lucky enough to have a simple day saving time law as India does, i.e. -5h30 from Greenwich. Many times, for a country, we find war times, zone delimited times (France, under WWII occupation, for instance), specific town times (Quebec has many of them, before the 1970's!-), before it gets a general law for DST. So I think that before we cast any birth chart, we must *always* check whether there was any " saving time " , should we always cast our chart on Astrodienst website (for instance, since it has some aggrement with Shanks' work), getting there our GMT (Greenwich) time. At least, we then have a reliable data. Since I own many software, I have found those with ACS (built-in) atlas to be more reliable than any other software I own (I have paid nearly a thousand Canadian dollars for Aureas -Western- Astrology software, and their atlas is still not fully reliable, as ACS, although its astrological techniques are the best...) So " cautiousness " is needed for every chart we cast. I wish Astrologers will put their attention on this very important matter... Our reputation almost exclusively rely on birth data precision. Other astrological techniques failing with false data, should we have the best techniques in the world. -- With my best regards, François Carrière siha <siha écrivit: > Hello Vyas, > > Mr. Arun Rao is right. Guest guest
Francois, You're absolutely correct. I admire your expression of passion in this matter; we shouldn't freak out too much though, mistakes do happen from time to time.
