Weak Saturn was in conjunction with Ketu from August, 1939, to November, 1939, and during this period of four months there may be many other planetary weaknesses and afflictions to cause long term disturbance like a world war. Sun and Venus and Sun and Mars are closely conjunct while the Sun and the Moon are in close opposition. There are multiple planetary relationships and weaknesses. Below is a list of some conjunctions and oppositions, although some 120° aspects have also produced significant events, like the running aspect from Rahu in Leo to Saturn in Aries from April 1998 to January 1999, when a financial crisis raged around the planet and oil prices collapsed to below $10 ber barrel (Saturn was debilitated in Aries). The periodic conjunctions and oppositions between Saturn and the nodes in recent decades are as follows: - Saturn was conjunct Rahu in Scorpio and opposite Ketu in Taurus in Fall of 1956. The Soviet Union invaded Hungary on 3 November 1956 much to the world's dismay. - Saturn was conjunct Ketu in Capricorn and opposite Rahu in Cancer from April to November 1962. The Cuban missile crisis plays out at the world is hanging on tenterhooks until it is resolved on 28 October, shortly after the aspect became exact. - Saturn was conjunct Rahu in Virgo and opposite Ketu in Pisces in Spring 1968. Student uprisings rock Paris and other cities in May. - Saturn was conjunct Ketu in Gemini and opposite Rahu in Sagittarius from August 1973 to March 1974. Israel fights and wins Egypt in " October war " . The first " oil shock " arrives sending oil prices through the roof and shockwaves through financial markets. - Saturn was conjunct Rahu in Leo and opposite Ketu in Aquarius from June to August 1979. Second oil shock. - Saturn was conjunct Ketu in Scorpio and opposite Rahu in Taurus from December 1984 to May 1985. Mikhail Gorbacheve becomes leader of Soviet Union in March 1985. - Saturn was conjunct Rahu in Capricorn and opposite Ketu in Cancer from December 1990 to March 1991. Allied forces invade and liberate Kuwait from Iraq occupation. Oil prices take off. - Saturn was conjunct Ketu in Pisces and opposite Rahu in Virgo July to October 1996. Osama bin Laden writes Jihad declaration in July. Iraqi disarmament crisis. US launcher operation Desert Strike in Iraq. The Taliban capture Kabul in Afghanistan. - Saturn was conjunct Rahu in Taurus and opposite Ketu in Scorpio from April to July 2002. The US State Department releases a report in June naming 7 state sponsors of terrorism: Iran, Iraq, Cuba, Libya, North Korea, Sudan, and Syria. Iraq disarmament crisis repeats in July with Iraq once again rejecting new U.N. weapons inspections proposals. In the autum of 2007, Saturn and Ketu will become conjunct in Leo. While Saturn will be in full strength as measured by degree, the dispositor of Saturn and Ketu will be weak from mid October to 20 November, when the aspect ends, by being either in old age in Virgo, debilitation in Libra or infancy in Scorpio. Moreover, the aspect of Saturn and Ketu becomes exact on 23 October. In the week preceeding and the week following, it will be 1° within the exact conjunction. Hence, the impact will be most strongly felt in the second half of October. Fortunately, neither Saturn or Ketu will be stationary and hence the duration of the contact is less than it could be.
