Weather forecasts have raised hopes of some respite from the wildfires raging out of control across southern California for the last four days.

The fires have caused the evacuation of about 1m people, officials say. Among the worst affected areas is that around San Diego, where evacuation centres are struggling to provide shelter for more than 300,000 people.

While the winds are weakening, firefighters still face a huge task as no rain is forecast. Three people have been killed and 20 injured. The fires have destroyed 1,596 homes and the material damage is estimated to have risen to more than $1bn.

What you say is true, however what I have pointed was:

Before such an inferno, its very difficult to see it in any chart that has no MEPs afflicted.

I should have said: no related MEPs afflicted (and several of them, exactly).

In US, the inferno started five days ago due to the following influences in the US chart (1776):

1) US dasha: Ve/Me/Me (combust bhukti/fire). Mercury is the dispositor of Saturn, L4, in rashi. Transit Mercury, L11 (income, Saturn's dispositor) being combust and badly placed in H12 (losses), afflicted by transit Rahu. Gemini and Virgo, both signs of combust Mercury, are exactly afflicted by transit Mars (fire), increasing the possibility of fires. The possibility of great fires was predicted by myself on September, 16, as you know

2) Transit Saturn, L4 (houses, territory), exactly afflicted by transit Ketu/Rahu axis (fire/smoke), and natal Saturn having its house of placement exactly afflicted by Mars (fire) from H8 (calamities).

3) Natal Ketu (fire) exactly afflicted by transit Mars (fire), L6 (fire), aggravates the affliction of transit Ketu over Saturn.

4) MEP4 (houses, territory) under the close influence of transit Rahu/Ketu axis, and the exact affliction of MMP, Venus, igniting the H4 problems.

Bush declares major fire disaster

Thousands of homes are threatened across the region

Raging wildfires US President George W Bush has declared California a major disaster after four days of wildfires sparked the biggest US evacuation since Hurricane Katrina.

The fires left three dead, burnt 1,500 homes and are threatening 68,000 more, causing more than $1bn in damages. More than 500,000 people have been ordered to evacuate as fierce winds fan fast-moving fires that have ravaged land from Santa Barbara to Mexico. Forecasters predict winds to weaken, easing conditions for firefighters. Federal aid Mr Bush's disaster declaration will free long-term federal funding to help governments, families and individuals recover from the devastation wrought by the blazes - at least 12 of which are still burning. Earlier on Wednesday, Mr Bush declared a state of emergency in seven California counties. He will visit the state on Thursday.

Dear friends, I would like to share with you a few thoughts. ON SA METHODOLOGY IN MUNDANE ASTROLOGY Predictions based on SA in mundane astrology are sometimes less successful than those based on the charts of individuals. This owes to the fact that information about the birth of national entities is often times shrouded in some mystery while the birthdays of individuals are in most cases well known, including the time of birth. After establishing the historical event for the creation of a nation, the arduous work of rectifying the ascendant for that day then commences based on interpreting the natal potential of the chart and with predictions based on the national chart. The predictions are a necessary step in the scientific process, although such tests are not reproducible. The cosmic flow at any given time, as well as each individual born at

any given time and place, is always unique. Another factor to consider is that for most of us, the above effort is making us more perfect in terms of reading the natal potential and predicting based on it more correctly in terms of SA theory. In all of this work, it is immensely helpful to follow SA theory earnestly and to take on board the generous guidance of . Those not doing so are free to continue on their own path, but here on SAMVA we try to stick with SA theory and the guidance of a true master of astrology. For those of us who chose to make use of this wonderful opportunity to become better mundane astrologers, solid progress is being made in establishing the mundane charts for a number of important countries based on the process of studying the history of these countries, the reading of the national character as revealed in the historical events in terms

of the natal potentialities of the charts and then not avoiding the crucial test of predicting based on the mundane charts. In this regard, it is also important to note that those chosing to only review non-predicted events in terms of their rectified charts are not working as per the scientific method and hence their interpretations are not considered as proof of such charts, only indications. In my humble oppinion, the step of making scientific predictions cannot be avoided in this work. When events are repeatedly successfuly predicted based on a mundane chart we all must pay careful attention to that. REGIONS OF COUNTRIES Interestingly, events in regions of large countries would be expected to show up in charts rectified for the regions as well as for the country as a whole. At the same time, the impacts may be slightly different at regional and national level.

For instance, the wildfires and destruction of over 1.200 homes and other structures in California in recent days are showing up in the Aries rising chart that is being considered for the state of California (see below).
