Please clarify Pitru Dosh requirements?

My Dear Professor,

 

I have two questions:

 

1) Below you list i and ii for Pitru Dosh. So native needs either i or ii,

not both, as RA/KE cannot afflict an odd sign when placed in an even sign?

Do I understand this correctly?

 

2) Do RA and KE both need to be in malefic houses? Or can it occur when

one of them is in a malefic house, e.g., when KE in the 8th and RA in the

2nd?
