Which is the best software program for KP

Dear List Members,

I am new to this list though I was introduced to KP in 1988 when I was

living in Madras. My introduction to vedic astrology was with KP. I had

bought all the books of Shri Krishnamurthi then and was very impressed with

his astrological skills. There are few who can match the phenomenal

accuracy of his predictions. Those days, I had to MANUALLY cast each chart,

be it natal or horary, with the help of tables and the ephemeris. It used

to take 2 hours of manual calculations to be able to finally arrive at the

table of significators. Now, with computers, the same job can be done in

seconds. Amazing.

I have Goravani Jyotish which has some element of KP in it but maybe not

enough. I am thinking of buying some other astrology program which

incorporates the elements of KP more fully. Can I request members to kindly

advise me as to which would be the best program for this. I will be much

obliged.

I have always had an enduring interest in KP but was unable to find a

website or list which was fully devoted to KP, until now. I hope to be able

to learn a lot from you all and hone my KP skills.

Thanks for your time. With best regards.

Vaidun ji,

Have a look at " Varahamihira for Windows " and " Mobile Kundli for

PalmOS " by the company running this group. Both are designed KP

astrologers in mind. The details are available at

Dear Members,

I have with me Mr.K.Subramaniam's K.P.

Software, but after I bought and began using the

Software developed by Shri A.R.Raichur(upto subsub

levels),I have found it most useful and

simple-to-use,and Shri Raichur also provides a

specially developed on K.P. Dasavidha Poruthams

principles,a software for horoscope matching...which

in my humble opinion is prhaps the best Software for

K.P., developed so far...

I therefore would strongly recommend

Shri Raichur's Software...for K.P. followers...his

e-mai ID has appeared in these columns already...

With best wishes,I am,

Yours sincerely,

Vaidun ji,

You will find all features of KP system in Varahamihira for Windows.

Few of the features like customized worksheet for KP analysis,

customizable and other KP ayanamsas, KP Horary are few features that

are not available with other softwares. Especially, if you are looking

for Windows based program, IMO, it is the best one. Other DOS and

PalmOS based programs are also available.

Vaidun,

I have not seen Mr. Raichur's program so I do not know what it

incorporates. But as a newcomer to KP I have recently gone

through the process of trying to tailor my software to the

correct KP ayanamsa. Goravani Jyotish is fine because it has

the unusual feature of allowing you to put stepped times and

ayanamas. It also has very compact tables of house cusps and

planets - ideal for printout. An additional feature is that

you can program back to the 1st century AD. I have done this

using the accuracy of Solar Fire using the KP era for 1900 which

then allows backwards calculation. With Solar Fire I can go

back to 3000+BC; but of course Solar Fire is primarily a Western

astrology program with small elements of Vedic, not suitable for

detailed KP work.

I have also checked Parasara Light. This is a program that

offers the same as G.J. but also has an additional feature that

for a horary reading, sets up a chart correctly to show it

relative to the given number. In both these softwares it appears

you can get the desired results provided that you program in the

correct ayanamsas. I will be happy to provide the figures I

have come up with - if you would like them.

Dear Col Ranade,

Thank you for your email below. I already have Astro Kundali which I purchased about 2 years ago. I know that this program has KP built into it. Though dabbled with it now and then, I haven't used it much though. Do you find it adequate for KP work?

Dear Vaidun,

I use "e-kundali" software, wherein I can find all necessary calculations for KP requirements. Though I have noticed some errors somewhere sometimes, still I have found the software fairly useful. It is a Window-based program and you can also email the charts to anybody via email directly from the program itself.

Good luck.

Good luck.

Dear Col Ranade,

Thank you for your email below. I already have Astro Kundali which I purchased about 2 years ago. I know that this program has KP built into it. Though dabbled with it now and then, I haven't used it much though. Do you find it adequate for KP work?

I am an ex Group Captain from the Indian Air Force. Flew jet fighters when I was there. Left the IAF in '87. Have been around since then. Very nice to make your acquaintaince.

With best regards.

There are few who can matchthe phenomenalaccuracy of his predictions. Those days, I had toMANUALLY cast each chart,be it natal or horary, with the help of tables and theephemeris. It usedto take 2 hours of manual calculations to be able tofinally arrive at thetable of significators. Now, with computers, the samejob can be done inseconds. Amazing. I have Goravani Jyotish which has some element of KPin it but maybe notenough. I am thinking of buying some other astrologyprogram whichincorporates the elements of KP more fully. Can Irequest members to kindlyadvise me as to which would be the best program forthis.
