Guest guest
What is meant by reference to 360 and 365 day/year? 1. In the SW calculation of Vimsottari Dasha or the raging controversy 360 or 365 d/y , there are --- two options: (1) to measure a year by 360 days (2) to measure a year by 365 days. 2. That is why the difference becomes more divergent from 11 days at the age of 2.2, 369 days at age 72.2 and, --- 629 days at age 120 as shown below (from Msg # 2880). SW CALCULATION OF 360 D/Y & 365 D/Y VIMSOTTARI DASA OPTIONS --------KPASTRO-365-- 360- A-YR--JHL-360------DIF/D-AGEx5.2425 Sun DASA-28-04-1956--17-04-1956--17-04-1956---11----.2.2X5.2425=11 Moo DASA-29-04-1966--24-02-1966--24-02-1966---65----12.2X5.2425=64 Mar DASA-28-04-1973--18-01-1973--18-01-1973---100---19.2X5.2425=101 Rah DASA-29-04-1991--16-10-1990--16-10-1990---193---37.2X5.2425=195 Jup DASA-29-04-2007--24-07-2006--24-07-2006--–275---53.2X5.2425=279 Sat DASA-29-04-2026--25-04-2025--25-04-2025---369---72.2X5.2425=378 Mer DASA-29-04-2043--16-01-2042--16-01-2042---468---89.2X5.2425=468 Ket DASA-29-04-2050--10-12-2048--10-12-2048---504---96.2X5.2425=504 Ven DASA-29-04-2070--27-08-2068--27-08-2068---607--114.2X5.2425=608 Sun DASA-01-03-2074—-07-06-2073--07-06-2073---629----120x5.2425=629 Note: (1) Dasa periods of 360D-A-YR are exactly the same for KPAstro & Jagannatha SWs. (2) DIF/D = Difference in days between 360D-A-YR & 365D-A-YR options. (3) By using 5.2425 difference per year the total difference is 629 days for 120 years; if 5.25 days difference per year is used, the total difference will be 630 days for 120 years. 3. Such kind of differences are almost the same in Jyotish Tools and Rajasekaran's SW (Msg #2036), Goravani Jyotish, Parashara Light 6.1, Astroworks, Shri Jyothi Star (Msg #2865 & 2916), and will be the almost same in " any " Vedic SW with 360 or 365 options as per the above meaning of a year. (360 d/y option is not available in Austraura.) 4. Nothing may not be wrong with SW calculations as per the above meaning of a year. 5. The sames differences are mentioned by 365 d/y supporters like Jyotish Sastri (Astrological Magazine/ AM, Oct & Nov 2000) & H.R. Shankar (AM, Jan 1974) and also 360 d/y supporters like Hira Gulrajani, Rohini Ranjan & N. Sundara Rajan (AM, Jan 2004) saying (365x120=) 43830 days by using the 360 d/y and by using 365 day solar year (365.25x120=) 43200 days, which is one-tenth (in days) of the Kali Yuga duration of 4,32,000 years; Each solar year (360 d/y) exceeds the Vimshottari 360-day year by 5.25 days--- for 120 years 630 days. (Msg #2880) http://www.shyamasundaradasa.com/Shyama_site/what_is_jyotish/how_long_ year/how_long_year_1.htm http://www.boloji.com/astro/00308b.htm http://www.sulekha.com/content/epress/samples/EB_RAMAN_015_S.pdf 6. For the difference of only 1 or 2 day between 360 d/y and 365 d/y Vimshottari Dasha calculation: (1) There may not be the raging controversy 360 d/y or 365 d/y that " each side can argue their points till the cows come home " (Sandy Crowther, Msg #2081); (2) It may not be necessary for the scools of Sanjay Rath and V. K. Choudhry to include 360 d/y option in addition to default 365 d/y version in their Jagannatha Hora and Jyotish Tools SWs respectively. (3) It may not need for: a/ K. N. Rao to say that all his successful predictions have been given on the basis of 365 days only and b/ Sadasiva Giri illustrates 360 d/y give s him better results (KN Rao: Timing Events Through Vimshottari Dasha, Preface to the Second Edition); for c/ Rohini Ranjan & d/ N. Sundara Rajan to say better results by using 360 d/y (Msg #2880); for e/ Bepin Behari to give a remark (The Timing of Events, p 15) that in this system (Vimsottari dasa) only 30 days comprise a month and a year of 365 days; for f/ Pt. K.R. Kar to mention (KP Anuual 2004, p 69) that to avoid complexity in calculation ---360 d/y not considered---360 d/y accepted---if so particular— - 365 days not a year--- have to go for another 6h-9m-9.50 sec---; for g/ All India Astrological Services to explain, While computing dasha dates we add days to days, months to months and years to years. If days are more than 30, we take a carry over of 1 to months and similarly if months are more than 12 we take a carry over of 1 to year. Here we do not take into account the actual number. of days in a month. It seems that we are taking a year as 360 days only - 12 months x 30 days per month. However, this is a wrong understanding. Actually, we are dividing the year into months by multiplying by 12 and further converting into days by multiplying of 30. we add up in the same manner. So it is not correct to add by taking actual days of months into consideration. This simplicity of calculation takes the year as 365.25 days. The actual dates computed by rigorous calculations by taking actual days of the months and by this simple method differ only by a few days; accurate practically for all astrological purposes. http://www.hinduastrology.org/learnastrology/dasha.asp 7. Finally, " ultimately the difference in the 360/365.25 days comes to only 1 day ---- So why should we break our heads over this small variation ?
