AATHREYA - SEETHA DEVI

The Great Ithihaasa (Epic) Srimad RaamaayaNam

should have benn aptly Named after Seetha Maatha

as SEETHAAYANAM , as it is more a Story of

Mother Seetha Devi's Epic Journey from HER

Celestial Abode Vaikhunttam and back via

Mother Earth (Pruttvi Maatha)

Because of Sage Bhrigu's insult to MahaaVishnu,

Lakshmi felt sad to stay in Vaikunttam and came

down to Earth to do penance as VEDAVATHI.

VEDAVATHI, while doing Thapas , was abducted

by RaavaNa Brahma and taken to Lanka.

VEDAVATHI self ommolated Herself cursing

RaavaNa that She will be born as MAATHA

SEETHA DEVI and will be the cause for his

down fall.

Raajarshi Janaka , King of Mithila, was doing

Bhoo Pooja as a first step to perform an Yajnam

to have a Child ; He satarted ploughing the Earth

and lo and behold there was a Gold Chest with

Baby Seetha inside . SEETHA DEVI is Jaanaki,

(d/o Janaka) , Maithili (d/o Mithila Nagaram) and

Vaidehi (one who belongs to Videha Family)

The Divine Child married Raama when He broke

Shiva Dhanush and Seetha Swayamvaram was

attended by RaavaNa also wherein he first thought

of abducting MAATHA SEETHA DEVI.

After HER Marriage to Sri Raama as a 14 year old

young Bride SEETHA left Mithila never to return to

HER Place of Birth; SHE traveled to Ayodhya to

HER inlaw's city . Just before SHE was about to

be crowned as THE QUEEN , SEETHA DEVI

had to leave for Vindhya Forest for a period of

14 Years . During this period of Vanavaasam

SEETHA was abducted to Lanka by RaavaNa,

where SHE spent one year amidst Raakshasas.

SHE was rescued by Raama only to be subject

to a Test of Fire (Agni Pareeksha) which SHE

successfully withstood and traveled a second time

to Ayodhya . After a shortwhile , while pregnant

SEETHA was banished to forest again where she

found refuge in Sage Vaalmiki Aashram , gave Birth

toTwins Lava and Kusa.

Ultimately when Raama came to accept SEETHA

and requested HER to come back to Ayodhya ,

SHE put HER Foot down and refused point blank ,

but handed over HER sons to Raama's care.

MAATHA SEETHA DEVI went back to Mother Earth.

Raama may be Ideal in all other respects but He is

not an ideal husband . May He forgive me.
