Respected Girish ji,

 

[ 1 ] No. This upaya alone will not take care of the combination.

This upaya is just for the Moon placed in the 2nd house.It will take

care of 'rizak and income'. If the mercury is also found to be

malefic in that case an upaya for mercury placed in the 12th house

too will have to done.

 

[ 2 ] In this case, mercury placed in the 2nd house will not be

considered as debilitated, hence the water, if at all advised to be

kept, can be kept in any container. If I were to advise upaya I will

advise two different upaya for both mercury and the moon, that too

if found necessary.
