If say in 8 cases out of 10 it speaks in the 5th house then the suggestion for change made by Pt.Somdutta ji is valid. Till such time it is just his word for the back up. Some thing is abnormal or unusual about the 12th/13th year and the 24th/25th year figures. This is what we feel. Others feel the same way or not we do not know. If one believes that the Varsh Phal table as given in the book is sacrosanct and no rational or logical rules be applied, or no doubts raised, then the matter is automatically closed. All those who feel that it is a sacrilege to talk of a possible change, they can continue to follow the table. The change suggested is not mandatory for any one. By raising this issue, we want to bring it to the notice of every one what appeared to us as abnormal. Since we got a suggested change we shared it with every one. This is for the individual lalkitabists to adopt the change or not. If they do not find any thing unusual about the figures in these two cases they can continue to follow the table. Let us not forget that Som Dutt Ji also suggested to change foreign births to India time in order to cast janam kundalis, a fundamental quagmire that was proved useless and inaccurate by the scholars of this group. Perhaps the abnormality is true, only valid for that specific period. It is not a question of sacrosanct – it is a question of establishing it by more proof. It is possible that there are many persons who are still alive, practising LK astrology or were practicising. It is possible that Somdattji has a wealth of written material still not published – it could be used to verify if Panditji changed the tables. Panditji died in late 1980’s – isn’t it? Did he say anything about it? In our eagerness to find a logic, we may land up with egg on our face. I am sure this will be controversial and probably mis-understood but even illogic is logical – it’s just not visible to us. The only reason we accept the correction is that it seems to have been suggested by some one who had been associated with drawing up the table. Secondly, because there is no reason to believe that he had any intentions in misguiding the lal kitab practitioners or had any commercial interest in it. Since there are no sinister intentions behind suggesting the change, we accepted it with equal openness. We take it as a good gesture on the part of the person who has suggested the change and we accept it in good faith. And as I had said earlier, it is up to the individual lal kitab practitioners to accept this change or to reject it. We as a group at Aligarh accept it and go by it.
