Respected Raheja ji,

Yes it is true that in astrology literature Sun has been recognized as

a karak of Atma. But surprisingly the role of Sun has not been

mentioned in any of the achievements of the soul like spiritual

consciousness, attaining spiritual heights, Yog sadhana or even

Moksha. For all these it is the Jupiter and the ketu which have been

mentioned very often.

Therefore I feel that the Sun is significant as far as the worldly

achievements are concerned like, fame, status, authority, relationship

with state [ raj darbar], etc. It has very little to do with

spiritual matters.

Therefore a Sun placed in the 6th or the 8th house is not likely to

adversely affect the spiritual awareness or awakening. I do not think

it would be of any hindrance to the spiritual pursuits. In both these

houses the Sun is likely to lose its luster. Because a sun placed in

the 6th house would be down under in the paatal; where as a sun placed

in the 8th will be in the house denoting the darkness of death.

But it would definitely affect worldly achievements. The dark shadow

of the house of death or the loss of lustre would definitely be

perceived on the worldly matters. If the Sun gets some support from

planets like Jupiter and the Mars, or is placed in either Mesh or Sinh

rasi then the adverse effect would get moderated.
