Sir,

For Jupiter + moon + mercury + Saturn the book says that if they are

placed in the 2nd house the person will have bad company and bad

deeds, where as if they are placed in the 6th house then he will have

a good company and good deeds.

Sir, don’t you think that there is some contradiction here?

In the second house the moon will be exalted, where as the Jupiter

will be in the pakka ghar and still the native will be involved in bad

deeds and bad company; where as in the 6th house the moon and the

Jupiter do not have that advantage and still the native will have good

company and good deeds.How?

Sincerely,

Respected Gill sahib,

Yes, you are right. At a first glance it does sound contradictory,

but if you study this combination a bit deeply the contradiction gets

resolved.

While resolving this contradiction you have to keep two things in

mind.

[ a ] In traditional Indian astrology Mercury is also known as ‘

sangati dev’ meaning a karak grah of company or association or

sohbat.

[ b ] Saturn + moon form a ketu

Therefore this combination effectively means Jupiter, ketu and

mercury.

Of these, Jupiter and ketu in the 2nd house are said to give benefic

results. It is the mercury which gives malefic results leading to a

possibility of bad ‘sangati’ †" or bad sohbat. If a person gets

involved in undesirable company then there is always a possibility

that he might get involved in undesirable deeds. Hence ‘ mandi

sohbat, khote kam ka malik hoga [ 1952 urdu ed; page 939]

When the same combination is placed in the 6th house the mercury does

not behave malefic because the 6th house is its uchcha sthan [ place

of exaltation]. Therefore the ‘sangati’ will be of good people. Once

a person keeps company of good and noble people, there are very

little chances that he will earn through undesirable means. Hence ‘

achhi sohbat bhali daulat umda nam payega’ [ 1952 urdu ed; page 939 ]
