If he has Saturn in the 3rd house of his janma Kundali, then it may not be advisable to live in that house. According to the Lal Kitab, a person with Saturn in the 3rd house should avoid living in a house facing East. Nothing is said about an East-facing house.It is however indicated for Saturn in House No. 3 that giving a daughter (in marriage) to someone in the Eastern direction is no good. But that is a different matter.I believe Tewa Darusthi should be performed before giving advice to make sure this person's Saturn is really in the 3rd house. [ 1952 urdu ed; page 604 ; note #6 ] If the door is in the East or South then it will be inauspicious. It is a good suggestion that teve ki durusti should be done. But we do not discuss individual horoscopes in this group. He has it in the 8th house with Mercury, i.e. vrischik(mars house). I am just reproducing his mail to me for info. I am not discussing individual horoscope. It should not be a round wire. It should be a flat strip. { c } Keep at the entrance door [ in side of the home] an earthen monkey { mitti ka bandar }. Keep the monkey such that it faces East and any one who enters the house faces it first. { d } Gift sabut moong, now and then, to some one who owns a goat to feed her. These are precautionary upaya which can be done by any one who has a house facing south. Put 4 copper nails on the door, one on each side. Put them on the outside of the door. The silver strip [ not wire ] should be buried at the bottom. It should not be visible because it will wear out soon. He need not do the upaya if he doesn't have saturn in the 3rd house. He has to keep the clay monkey inside the house such that who ever enters the house has a look at the monkey. He doesn't need two monkeys for that, just one will be enough. The silver strip is to be buried under the thresh hold [ bottom ] from one end of the gate to the other. I am raising this because a friend of mine, well to do, has been asked to change from his costly house by someone from Hubli saying his entrance is east which according to his star not ideal etc. etc. I have told him that I would consult Lal Kitab which never talks about it and then advise him.
