But i remember reading that the colour of floor of residence should not be that of planet placed in 9th house. The thumb rule is that don't place articles in places corressponding to malefic planets in horoscope. Why is this condition ( viz a viz -malefic benefic status) ruled out in case of house no. 9. 2ndly i have observed generally persons with mars 9 have red floor, jupiter- yellow or cream, mercury green, ketu - marble chips or black and white etc. Changing the floor can be very expensive. The condition is that the colour of the house floor should not be that of a manda planet placed in the 9th house or of those planets which are considered manda in the 9th house. In this context the planets considered manda in the 9th house are mercury, venus, and mars bud [ ref page 28, 1942 ed] Therefore one should avoid colours like green [mercury] ; white with a blue tinge [venus] and shining bright red [mars bud] for the floor of the house. Over and above these personally we advise not to have blue [rahu] also. Extending the same logic Pt. Sumat Prasad ji [ page 202; LK and Kashta nivaran] goes on to suggest that the colour of the floor should be compatible with the planet placed in the 5th house. The 5th aspects the 9th. If the Jupiter is placed in the 5th house then the colour of the floor if dull red, or light yellow would be helpful. You are right when you say that one should not establish karak object of malefic planets in the direction of the house they are placed in. [ ref page 397, lines 13-15; page 410, lines 14-15 of 1941 ed] I agree with you that it will be very expensive to redo the floor. As a best way out, I can not think of any thing else except taking the help of the Masnuyee concept. Suppose some body has a bluish white [venus] floor then he should add some green [mercury] to it so that venus + mercury form a Sun which is considered as a benefic in the 9th house. This can be done by either painting a small patch green or placing a pot of a flowering plant on the floor.
