Dear Kulbir bhai,

For Saturn and Venus placed in the 4th house the Lal Kitab says:

 

` kapare ki thaili maya ke liye gumnam chor sabit hogi; lekin do kaparon ki aur juda juda do rangon ki is nuqsa se bari hoge' [page 864; 1952 urdu ed]

 

In good old days people used to have a thaili to keep their money in. This thaili was invariable made of cloth of one colour. A pouch of cloth [mercury] is likely to harm the Moon [karak of the 4th and of maya or dhan] because both the Saturn and Venus are friends of mercury. Remember Saturn is one of the constituents of rahu [chor]

 

Saturn and venus form an uchcha ketu.

 

Therefore as a precaution it has been mentioned that those who have a thaili or need to have a thaili to keep their money in should have one of two colours and made of two pieces of cloth representing a Ketu.

 

Ketu is not a friend of mercury and is also a transformed form of Saturn and Venus. A thaili of two coloured cloth will be able to avoid three hostile planets to Moon i.e. Saturn ,Venus and mercury.

 

The purpose of this precaution seems to be to avoid having a thaili representing Mercury and instead have the one representing Ketu.
