Kulbir ji has already indicated the tendency towards speculative business

because of Rahu in the 7th house.

 

According to the traditional Vedic astrology the gains through speculative

investment should be assessed through:

 

[a] The strength of the 5th , 6th , 11th and the 2nd houses and their lords.

The strength of Mercury, the signifying planet for speculative investments.

[c] There should be no affliction to the above houses, their lords and mercury.

[d] Conducive Dasha/Antar dasha

Now coming to the question of ketu and the gold ear rings as an upaya.

When the Rahu is placed later then Ketu, then Ketu becomes manda; and if the

Saturn is placed later then Rahu, then Saturn acts according to the dictates of

Rahu.

If Rahu is placed in the 7th house and the Ketu in the 1st house, then being

placed before Rahu it will be manda, hence the prohibition of keeping a dog as a

pet i.e. the native should avoid establishing a Ketu which is manda.

But what about the already existing Ketu in the Kundali? What if there are

perceptible adverse effects on the son or the spine, legs, knee joints etc.?

In this case some form of an Upaya would be necessary, isn’t it? Now what

could be the possible form of upaya? We have to differentiate between

establishing Ketu and protecting/strengthening Ketu.

There could be three forms of upaya:

[a] Containing the Rahu placed in the 7th through the Upaya already suggested in

the Lal Kitab

Protecting Ketu with the help of establishing a handful of black & white til

[sesame seeds] in a brass [Jupiter] dibbi; i.e. putting Ketu in the protection

of Jupiter.

[c] Strengthening Ketu through either golden ear rings, or still better through

applying haldi tilak on the ear lobes.

We should leave it to the astrologer as to which of these upaya, or all of them,

are to be advised.
