I objected to a 'modern' practice in one of my relatives wedding where instead

of rice the girl while vidaai on marriage threw back flowers instead of

rice!!!!!!!!!!!!!

When everyone scorned at what difference it would make.I came up with an answer

..just wanted to check with Ld mmbers if I was right.

I assume the life of rice is similar to a girl.Rice lives its non reproductive

life in nurseries and then is transplanted to the main field where it spends its

reproductive/fruitful life....very similar to maika and sasural of a girl

respectively.

Respected Siddharth ji,

Hmmm… an interesting analogy.

However astrologically speaking rice is a karak of Moon i.e.

dhan,sampatti,vaibhav,laxmi.

Throwing back a handful of rice is a symbolic gesture that she is not taking

with her any of the above and instead is leaving them all behind , so it be

known to every one through her gesture.

This is in a way wishing all prosperity to the home she belonged to till her

marriage. She is not taking away any thing, she is leaving the home as it is and

has always been.
