Guest guest
jivio, great idea! great way to facilitate exchange. What are the difference between and what is the definition of: >>my understanding of the following is: A) Lunar Return >>a lunar return is a chart cast in which the present-day moon's location (w/in 360 degrees; 30 degrees ea. sign) is set to the same degree, min, second as that of birth. can be used to view the " vibe " of the month by gauging planetary relationships and patterns (transit- transit, natal-transit) within the approximately month-long cycle (until whichever date present-day moon next hits your moon's natal position, which will be sometime the following month). some people say pay extra attention to the sun, others say it's the moon that should be focused on. i've found them to be quite accurate, myself. B) Synodic Lunar Return (Phase Return) >>a synodic lunar return (phase return) is also a lunar chart but is cast by setting one's present-day moon to the same phase it was at birth (i.e. new, waxing crescent, full, waning, etc.). whatever phase the moon was in at one's birth equates to a relationship (aspect) with the sun (i.e. waxing crescent = the moon was making a 45* aspect (semisquare) to the sun at that time. but to tell you the truth, i'm not really sure what differentiates the two (lunar return & synodic return) from each other in terms of effect on an individual. for instance, my synodic seems to fall a few days within my lunar returns. as a result, i haven't really known what to do with the synodic specifically. especially since the lunar return works well for me to view monthly planetary influence. i don't know what the synodic offers in addition to that. i'd like to though. i've read synodics focus on emotional matters, which makes sense, but i'm not sure if this is typically more than a lunar return. i'd love to know more about the synodic if anyone cares to flesh it out a bit more. C) Progressed Lunar Return >>well, progressions are my weak area presently (meaning i don't know too much about them yet). i'm assuming one uses the day-for-a-year method but i'm not sure how one factors in the moon to create the lunar return. if anyone could shed some light on just how this is done, casting this kind of chart, i'd be interested in learning. thanks for letting me put my two cents to work. i welcome comments or criticism and look forward to reading the other posts on these subjects. happy holidays everyone! -paola
