Guest guest
The latest board discussion on the zodiac has prompted me to review the writings of early siderealists and scholars such as David Pingree. Fagan's ASTROLOGICAL ORIGINS is full of crazy stuff, but still siderealists keep repeating his basic assertions about the zodiac and the supposed role of ancient Egypt in developing astrology. Rupert Gleadow (THE ORIGIN OF THE ZODIAC) seems more objective and scholarly in his writing, but it's been a long time since I've seen any siderealist mention him. Gleadow was an Oxford scholar of classical Greek and Egyptian hieroglyphics. A siderealist, Gleadow disagreed with Fagan on some key points. Does any siderealist want to refute anything in Rob Hand's 'The History of Astrology - Another View?' http://www.robhand.com/histintr.htm According to Hand (and academic scholars), " It was a later Egypt [not the Egypt of the Pharaohs] that gave birth to horoscopic astrology, an Egypt that had made close contact with the ideas of the Babylonians.
