I tried this in my mail program. My computer only gave a ding and wouldn't put anything on the screen. And happily I thought I could finally type e-mails using the little degree symbol! Even now, Eudora is not the greatest e-mail client for HTML (styled text) but it's come a long way and does the simple things like characters by using " ALT " and the proper number sequence. Upgrade your Eudora and you should be able to do that providing you turn on styled text. Anna

So that's the problem! Anna, you're right. I have a very old edition of Eudora on purpose because it tosses out all the HTML, and viruses can't get into my computer through e-mails. This Eudora is too ancient to catch them. Therese

This Eudora is too ancient to catch them. The more current Eudora doesn't propagate viruses any more than the version you're using did. It's Outhouse and Outhouse Excuse that propagates viruses left and right. Eudora can be set up very safely, where someone could receive viruses files and it wouldn't be an issue...
