Guest guest
Respected Kiranjit ji, It is a great pleasure to hear from you after such a long time. Hope to hear from you more often. Yes, you are right there are no instructions as to how these nails are to be fixed. The only information given is : " raat ko aram ki zindagi guzar ne ke liye charpai ke charon payon par tambe ki mekh gar kar nek hogi " [Page 371, 1952 urdu ed ; page 124, arun sanhita ] In these circumstances we should go by the folk tradition. In the villages when a child is born, some times elderly ladies in the house advise to fix iron nails on all the four bed-posts[ paaye ] of the cot in which the child sleeps. These nails are fixed on the top of the bed-post [ paaye ] and not on the side. As you know that the paye of the cot are slightly higher than the cot, the nails fixed on top of the paaye act as protecting sentry posts on all four sides. Therefore we believe that the nails should be fixed on top of the paaye. The length of the nail should be such which can be fixed easily. On the modern double beds of plywood normally there are raised planks towards the head and the feet; in such beds the nails should be fixed on these planks so that the nails can act as sentries at night. Summarizing, the nails should be fixed on the top at the highest points on the bed. Would love to hear from other experts also. With great regards, Varun Trivedi , kiranjit kumar <kapatjal wrote: > > dear varun ji, > would u please elaborate more on this remedy. For example, size of the nail, its positioning i.e, vertical ,horizontal or oblique etc., the location of the corners of the bed e.g. at the top ply or the legs of the bed(paya) and the site thereof;box type beds may not have any legs(paya) or these r very negligible.. Lk is perhaps silent on these issues. > with best wishes, > sincerely, > kiranjeet > > > > Looking for last minute shopping deals?
