Hi Therese,

Since 1987 I have been studying western astrology and since a year I have

been reading books about Jyotish and joining discussionlists.

I must say that most western astrologers I meet work with the geocentric

tropical zodiac, so the one that is more or less 23 degrees ahead from the

sidereal. I have also met only a few western astrologers who actually use

the sidereal positions, like the jyotish do. I must say that they mostly

have a broader view, either they are also into jyotish, or astrosophy or

even astronomy, because it is hard for traditional western astrologers to

let go of the idea that around the 21st of march the sun is in aries. In the

Netherlands where I live I only meet western astrologers who want to work

with the obsolete tropical calculations of Ptolemy. I am afraid that there

aren't many purely western siderealists.

Greetings,

Anne

Cynthia and all,

When you refer us to a web site, could you please give us the full site

address including http?? That way we can just and go

there. Otherwise we have to copy, paste and add http//. This will help the

more impatient of us move quickly on the web. (All you have to do is go to

your recommended site, copy the URL and paste it into your list post.)

I'd also like to issue an explanation/apology to those few left who use

the pure Fagan-Bradley sidereal system. This list was begun to help others

understand that system, but the numbers are against you. There are only a

few western siderealists left (all over age 50 or 60?), but the Jyotish

people, young and older, are incrasing by the hundreds. We're seeing

history in the making as Jyotish concepts become combined with western

sidereal tenets. Then we'll have to continue to face the ayanamsa question.

This is nothing we can change, just as Jyotish is now absorbing some

(correct or incorrect) tropical concepts.

Therese
