Probably Whitman too. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ D*S, There was no 'Vedic' astrology until the formation of the American Council of Vedic Astrology in the early 90s. As I remember, the term was popularized during the visit of K.N. Rao in (1993?) I've always highly objected to the term 'vedic' as there was no horoscopic astrology in Vedic times. (If I ever get my files together, I'll be able to trace when this term first appeared in print here in America, since I have all the early publications and conference programs.) B.V. Raman always used 'Hindu astrology'. But then around 1996 his autobiography was re-issued under the title " The Autobiography of a Vedic Astrologer!!' Sometime in the 90s the term " Jyotish " became popular. Jyotish means 'science of light,' and actually referred to astronomical conditions. Originally Jyotish had nothing to do with astrology. So the 90s have seen the misapplication of both terms, although I suppose 'Jyotish' can evolve into a relationship to astrology. Jyotish may be a good term for the hybred astrology that's appearing now--Hindu astrology combined with some western ideas. Therese
