I definitely think that sidereal is the way to go but I have a question regarding signs. Most vedic astrologers state that the ascendant is the true sign of the individual, others the moon sign, while western astrologers say it's the sun sign. I'm a sidereal Sun in Gemini, Moon in Leo with Scorpio ascendant. Some astrologers say I'm a Gemini, others a Leo, and others a Scorpio. Who's got it right and why? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Hi Tom, Welcome to the sidereal group. Your question doesn't have a simple answer like " I'm...this sign. " The Ascendant, Sun and Moon are all important. The ascendant lord is very personal, and the planets that conjoin or aspect that planet (major aspects) will be important in your life. In your case, you'd look at Mars as lord of Scorpio. Planets that aspect your Moon will tell a lot about your personality. The Sun is the foundation we were born with (tied to past lives according to Jyotish), but if the Sun isn't in a strong position in the horoscope, solar traits may not be easily seen. The Ascendant, Sun and Moon are focal points for aspecting planets. So if you have a good understanding of the individual planets, you'll have a good understanding of yourself and your life. Signs of the zodiac are important because they tell us which planets are the focal points for receiving the energies of the other planets. For Aries, we look at Mars, for Taurus, Venus, and so forth.
