Hi Bliss, The terms 'earth' and 'air' are misnomers. (We didn't use the word 'grounded.') The signs have been mis-labled from way back according to Robert Schmidt (who has translated Ptolemy), Robert Hand and others. I explained the probable correct labels in an earlier post today. Much of India's astrology comes from the Hellenistic, and some of it has been garbled in the translation. >Would love to know about these >confounds. However, I've been writing about the signs on my web site (Cap and Aqu aren't posted yet). Sidereal CAPRICORN: Assciated with Number 10 Aware of social and universal concerns, impartial in its reasoning (all inclusive), emotionally detatched, tries to fit diverse ideas into its mental viewpoint. May be too great a reliance on mental analysis...(sounds like Tropical Aquarius--right!) Saturn is the democrat--Saturn brought the frightened and antagonistic tribes together in the area of Rome. The reign of Saturn was known as the Golden Age because he taught the people to trust one another and to live together in harmony. (...see the sidereal Capricorn connection here...the wish for social equality?) The Saturnalia recalled the happy times of the Golden Age. Capricorn is the sign of material science. Sidereal AQUARIUS: The opposite sign from Leo. The ego is weak here, but sympathy and intuition strong, can be very much an introvert. Aquarius is the 11th sign, number 11, a number of mystery, tends to have obscure meanings. Number eleven is associated with peril and martydom. Note that Uranus was the mythological victim being castrated by Saturn. (Victimization is now associated with Tropical Pisces, but neither Neptune or Jupiter was ever a victim, and Jupiter was king of the gods.) Aquarius is often called upon to sacrifice or surrender something it values or even sacrifice itself. Aquarius is the sign of the mystic. Ramakrishna Paramahansa had a huge stellium in that sign. The metaphysical sciences also come under Aquarius. The myth of Uranus explains why the planet has been associated with unexpected disasters and sudden events. In ancient times Uranus ruled the invisible heavens beyond the world of form. Neither psychic impressions nor electrical energies, which Uranus is said to rule, can be seen in the conventional sense of the word. Well, I have many pages on Capricorn and Aquarius, but the above snippets give an idea of the differences between the two signs. >BTW, what have the latest astronomical findings done lately, since I >don't have the time to follow them.
