Guest guest
From Bamm on the SkyMap forum: In a highly controversial voting, only 91 astronomers voted in favor of the resolution calling Ceres, Pluto, Charon, and Xena " planets " . It was heavily defeated. The resolution to call them " plutonian objects " was also rejected during the vote. From now on, our lectures will have to change: we have only 8 planets, not 9, not 12, not 53. The soap opera is over. Goodbye, Pluto. P.S. This was not the first time this happened. In 1801, Ceres was discovered and called the missing planet in the Titius-Bode Law. However, in 1845, when 5 Astrea was discovered, it was stripped of its planetary status, and a new category was created: they were called Asteroids. Guest guest
It makes sense to me. Hopefully, the reassignment of Pluto will compel more astrologers to look at its fellow dwarf planets more seriously.
