Guest guest
Marching on with my learning quest toward Jyotish astrology... No matter tropical or sidereal and regardless of the signs or houses for that matter, I have a Sun and Mars that square my Moon. From my own experience, and with my learning from evolutionary astrology, this means that just by being myself and taking the actions that feel fitting for me will inevitably go against my happiness and desired outcomes. From the tropical side, Sun and Mars in Aries means I am supposed to be assertive, brass, bold, maybe courageous :-) but that would make my Cancer moon feel insecure and unhappy. What do you think about this from the Sidereal perspective? Of all the difficulties I see in charts, I think a Sun square Moon is the most difficult one to deal with. What do you think? Guest guest
Therese, I ordered the books (GRAHA SUTRAS, Cayce's, Circles of Stars) you recommended and they will arrive in the next week or so. Then, I could ask more " educated " questions...:-) >Bettina says Rahu is like a little hungry bird with it's mouth wide open begging for food ----This feels so " me " and the food I'm hungry for is knowledge. >You simply came into this life with Mars influencing your Sun. Your current path is more 7th house-Venus influenced by Neptune. (Neptune has a lot to do with astrology and psychology as well as the spiritual.) ----- Is this because my Asc is Libra, ruled by Venus which resides in 7th, opposing Neptune? (just making sure I understand the lecture:-)) >The Moon is simply how your conscious mind operates. --- and would Mercury be the logical mind, similar to western astrology? Sun contains the seed of the soul which estericists tell us resides in the astral heart. Moon is the personality, emotions, how our human mind functions. Moon is the senses as well. Ascendant lord is where our emphasis needs to be in this life--something we have to work on, a destiny of sorts, at least for part of our life. >[Felicia] From my own experience, and with my learning from evolutionary astrology, this means that just by being myself and taking the actions that feel fitting for me will inevitably go against my happiness and desired outcomes. No, not quite. You simply came into this life with Mars influencing your Sun. Your current path is more 7th house-Venus influenced by Neptune. (Neptune has a lot to do with astrology and psychology as well as the spiritual.) The Moon is simply how your conscious mind operates. It's with Rahu, which is partly where your endless enthusiasm for new knowledge comes from. (Bettina says Rahu is like a little hungry bird with it's mouth wide open begging for food.) Rahu can also darken the muted light of the Moon. (I don't quite have an understanding of how this would operate in your chart--maybe just by mental restlessnes--not sure.) Your Mercury is square the Moon which gives a thirst for information and understanding. You came from Pisces--Sun-Mars-Mercury. In this life you are functioning consciouly through your Moon-Rahu which is somewhat different from where you came from. Purpose is to eventually harmoniously add Moon experiences to the Sun. > From the tropical side, Sun and Mars in Aries means I am supposed to be assertive, brass, bold, maybe courageous :-) but that would make my Cancer moon feel insecure and unhappy. Tropical crap. Forget it. Focus on life purpose and service. Bettina, I hope you have something intuitive to say about Moon-Rahu. Felicia, time to dig into GRAHA SUTRAS, which is basically non-zodiacal. Therese

Your Sun disposits Uranus/Pluto, two earth shakers. Sun is in Saturn's Moon sign. Saturn is in the 4th--foundations. Major overhaul. ---- Oh my goodness, more overhaul of foundations? These past 2 years, I just lost my home, my marriage, and perhaps a best friend, (almost my health, but luckily I got an extension on that one :-) ). What else is there to lose/overhaul? Well, I suppose, if I must lose it, it must no longer be useful for my growth. > Saturn is in a good sidereal sign--Aquarius, and is an excellent planet for a sidereal Libra ascendant. ---That's good to know, but I didn't know that Aquarius in Saturn was a good thing. I thought it meant I always feel my freedom and innovation is being restricted. ----Are you also saying that Saturn is good for Libra Asc, Therese? How so? Wouldn't Saturn put a sense of burden/responsibility to relationship-oriented Libra? Guest guest
>Time for a major overhaul of all you believed astrology to be I think this is about right, Therese. It seems if I want to learn Jyotish astrology I must let go of some of my prior knowledge of western astrology since there will be areas of conflict. I just looked at my solar return for 2007 in sidereal vs tropical perspectives. I must say it feels a bit uncomfortable since it seems to give a totally different picture of my past year. I'll have to think about the differences a bit more to see what it all means. To be honest, the tropical one feels more " fitting " to me right now because this is what I'm used to seeing for the past year. This could also be due to the fact that I don't yet know how to interpret the sidereal chart properly. Applying the western principles might be the cause of my uneasiness with the sidereal solar return. Guest guest
Hi Therese, I'm having trouble setting up the chart so I can see the Jupiter in 7th as Chris said and the stellium in 6th. I use Kepler, so I played around with the house systems they provide, but couldn't quite get it to look like what you and others have described. I'm still having trouble navigating Parashara's light. The house system that is now active has the Asc in the 10th house position. Strange! I'll play with it some more tomorrow... Hi Felicia I just set up your sidereal return for last year. I read these charts in the western sidereal way which places the natal chart on the inner wheel of the solar return. This chart has SR Saturn right at the top of the chart squaring a Moon in the 7th, and also squaring your natal Nepune/Venus opposition. Pretty heavy. Transiting Mars-Neptune is in the 4th receiving the aspect of Saturn. This is a rather traumatic chart with Saturn affecting 1-4-7. Are we looking at the same sidereal chart? The angles are very important in the sidereal solar return.
